OT: 'Off topic' thoughts

If the climate was in crisis people like the Obamas wouldn’t be buying ocean front estates. If you believed Al Gore, New York and England would have been underwater a decade ago. Plenty of experts on the environment have called out this being grossly overblown, I’ll listen to them, not the bought and paid for alarmists or a Swedish adolence with a nasty attitude.
Just because Gore was wrong, doesn't mean climate change isn't a big problem.
As for the equity issue I don’t know about you but when I was young I didn’t have anything because I hadn’t worked long enough to amass any wealth, that came from decades of hard work.
What does this have to do with the fact the gap between the rich and the poor is already massive and keeps getting wider?
And last but not least the housing crisis was created by allowing the rate of immigration to exceed the amount of housing which was the currrent administration doing.

Tough times don’t last, tough prople do and imo it’s your attitude not your aptitude that determines your altitude. Work hard and you’ll reap what you sow……..
The cost of housing to median wages ratio compared to what it was 50 years ago is insane. If you're a young person, that's the reality regardless of what caused it.

I’m sure there are no doubt over the top alarming types but the validity of climate change isn’t really a matter of debate. I mean look no further than the significant escalation of extreme weather events around the world both in frequency and intensity. Pointing to the Obama’s buying an ocean front estate as evidence against it doesn’t really make sense, as it’s generally accepted amongst scientific communities that the impacts of ignoring climate change would be felt by future generations but not distant ones. It’s about tipping points. To give them a future, change needs to happen to not exacerbate the issue now.

Biggest issue with our housing market is lack of new homes construction and foreign investors buying up all the properties. Immigration policy certainly also plays a role but it’s problematic on many levels.

40 years ago my home cost 3.5 times my gross yearly pay, Today if I was still working at my same job this house would cost 12 times my gross yearly pay
That's is in a nutshell. There are so many other issues well, I can't even begin to imagine how stressful it must be to be say a high school graduate contemplating the future right about now.

environmentally - they have a point, in this regard the future looks bleak

fiscally - the inequality gap is at record levels and still widening with no end in sight

where they’re going to live - compare the relative cost of housing to what it was 50 years ago, nuff said

So I would say "not conditioned to believe", more like awareness of facts.

The basics.

There is solid evidence the climate schtick is just a money grab. Leading scientists (presented data to UK parliament) studied all the carbon data up in the poles and looked for temperature fluctuations etc. Basically, solar cycles and volcanos popping off have more effect than anything we do. We do less than 1% towards the "change".

Carbon dioxide is not bad. It's what the plants breathe. More cO2= bigger fruits and veggies.

We converted roam buffalo in to herds of cattle for consumption. Don't need to cull all the animals we consume because that's actually changing the environment for the negative. Animal poop is really good fertilizer.

You know what is bad though? Dumping chemicals like lithium batteries in dumps. Industrial chemicals or garbage in the oceans because the fine is less than treatments. We do this all the time and it is our only real issues. Waste management and yet most of the world excessively packages stuff etc. That's all we need to fix, and bitcoin mining because it is such a huge environmentally unfriendly practice. Bitcoin mining and EVs cause more pollution than the auto industry and gas cars combined.

Transfering gas and oil with pipelines is more environmentally friendly than by truck or train.

Everyone on the planet could fit comfortably in the state of Texas with plenty room to spare.

Glacier iceberg etc melt cause water levels to go down, not up.

Oil appears to be a renewable resource that we don't understand just as natural gas is natural.

Ok all of these things can be proven too.

Insurance claims are actually down over historical numbers, yes claim amounts are up because houses, cars, possessions are more expensive. When I was young it was acid rain that was going to kill us all. If your younger than 70 years old you know no other narrative than the climate is going to kill you…….

If kids can get a job where they can work from home, the country would be so much better. The country is large plenty of land, I would just envy the people living on a lake somewhere, working from home. People will have to spread out.

The problem is that those in power continually tell a lie and if said lie is repeated enough it’s accepted as gospel by those too busy or indifferent to finding out the truth first themselves……..

Acid rain, peak oil, tomato cancer, carrot cancer, asbestos, arsenic, the sun, the air, mold.

And on and on and on. Of the above though, Asbestos, Arsenic dumping into abandoned mine shafts polluting water systems are the only real issues. Even with the sun, the people that use the most sunscreen I know have the most skin cancer somehow.

The lies pay well. Just wait to the next lie that gets us into a war..that's when the real robbery happens

It’s not a coincidence that people recently died from complications from having a serious lack of vitamin D, we’ve been taught that the sun is your enemy where nothing could be further from the truth……..

Out of current technologies, nuclear is to me the obvious way to go and we should have started moving in that direction way sooner.

Any atmospheric scientist that isn't paid under the table knows that humans are negatively impacting the environment in countless ways. I might be a bit rusty, but I have a Master's degree in Atmospheric Science and defended a thesis of over 100 pages that showed plenty of evidence of upper-air warming injections and signatures.

I'm not one of those woke-ass morons and I hate the far left even more than the far right most of the time. But on this topic I encourage you to trust me.

The earth’s in no danger, only the arrogance of humans could think they can change what the earth going to do, when we become a real problem the earth will shake us off like a dog shakes off water……..

I’d argue that the bigger issue is the government fees/permit costs to builders

So then, what, in your opinion, is a good source of news? Politics, and world events?
Try Mark Carney's book Values, for starters. Sam Cooper, has a book on the Fentynal epidemic and triad connections.

Carney has been well-documented with his WEF connections.

Loads of foreign articles and information on X.
Yes, there are many reputable journalists throughout the world posting on X.

I read the Telegraph, a British paper for world events.

Ice actually takes up more volume than water when it is in its solid form.

This is because the molecular structure of ice causes it to expand and become less dense compared to liquid water.
When ice melts, it turns into water and the volume decreases, becoming denser.

I agree climate scientists require funding. Those that opposed views supported by the taxing regime get no funding. I trust scientists that do their own work and fund themselves. The group that presented to the UK parliament were 5 and self funded I believe.

It's just like wireless tech research. Everyone knows from was back that Radiation (wireless included) has negative health impacts. People don't care because a academics that have been funded and tow the line and seldom stray from the views of their peers don't want to be labeled.

But most of the ice is over land, so it occupy zero space in the oceans. When it melts it moves into the oceans causing levels to rise.

AI Overview

By volume, there is significantly more land ice than sea ice, with land ice containing enough ice to raise global sea levels by 57.9 meters, while sea ice covers about 7% of the Earth's surface.

Most glaciers are not in the ocean, but on land. When they melt, the water flows into ocean causing water levels to rise, this is really basic stuff.

The quality of the universities is not my issue. It's the quality of opportunities after university that I have an issue with. God knows I see it in my profession and in the tech companies I act for.
You know that you can go to University in Canada and then move elsewhere, right?
