OT: 'Off topic' thoughts

Imagine a world where all these political ads actually talked about how they will earn our vote and were not just petty attacks about why we shouldn’t vote for someone else.
If you think it's bad in Canada you can't imagine how it is down here. We have lost our minds, souls and brains.

Imagine a world where politicians had to wear accurate lie detectors at all times when addressing the public.

Or delivered on political promises, native Canadians are still waiting to have acceptable drinking water, must be pretty thirsty after ten years…….

Given the economy and the markets, I'm not sure anyone should be counting on those massive increases to the salary cap....
Been saying this for years, not many fiscally responsible posters in here, spent before it’s even announced………

Lol. Hope everyone kept buying when it was in the red.

Don't catch a falling knife, or fall for rally's in during down periods. This one is nearly impossible to judge what will happen next, as you can't really build a model based on the whims of someone who really has no understanding of economics...

All I will say, is if tariffs continue, the downside of these markets is in excess of 50%. Act accordingly.

I buy the same amount every week. I rebalance once a quarter to maintain my ratio. Lump sums are invested strategically or held in cash (.to).

My timeline is distant, so I'm not emotionally attached to any events (Mr. Market and all that jazz). If things go down, so does my avg./share. Dividends (I'm not overly invested in high dividend stocks, mind you. Growth is my goal) are reinvested on autopilot. Larger amounts of cash are reserved for my own personal investments (privately owned businesses and buying/paying off revenue-generating assets for my own outfit. I do not invest in real estate anymore because I do not want to contribute to the further alienation of this country's youth).

I'll refrain from addressing the political stuff. I don't agree with your opinion, but I fully support your right to voice it.

I invest in Real Estate through Private Funds, that invest in Apartment buildings or Mortgages. Very stable (40 years with no down periods), adequate returns.

I agree with you on not wanting to invest in housing directly, and personally think we need to return housing to homeowners, from investors.

Very off topic, but incredible performance by Rory Linkletter in the Boston Marathon today. Such a tough course, but still my favourite marathon.

I don't think there is a subject that could be considered off topic in this thread. My son ran his first marathon -- the Victoria marathon, 2 years ago whilst attending UVIC. Is Rory any relation to Art?

Don't think so. Rory has the potential to be the best Canadian marathon runner of all time. 2:07 at Boston? That's outrageous. 40 minutes faster than my best time (and that was on the relatively easy Toronto marathon course). That Boston course is the opposite of easy.
