Off-Topic and Gas Prices Tracking Thread

I had to get a few gallons at $3.39 yesterday. There's this thing here where the stations will all jump up like 40 cents one one day and then slowly come down over the next couple of weeks in price wars before the next big jump. Of course I was sick all week and my wife didn't go one time when it was $2.79, so then the gas light is on when I went to the store last night and I had no choice but to get some. When I'm on my game with rewards and timing, I usually get it for less than $2, but yesterday was definitely a pain.

Gas prices are almost always higher on Mondays. They have learned everyone runs around on the weekend burning up gas and then refills on Monday. Every week ours here will swing 20-30 cents through the week and then goes back up Monday morning.

Gas at my Sam's Club went down 2 cents to $2.57. Across the street, and the county line, it was $2.79, so I expect prices to go up.

I bought mine at $2.49 last week. I knew it was going up because I saw 7-11 on the edge of my area had it for $2.89 and went ahead and filled up at half tank. Glad I did. It is mostly $2.79 now. Overall, it probably makes very little difference to save $3 or so but it is a game that brings me joy. It's about as much gambling as I do in life.

Also, apparently I survived the great crash of 2025. Bitchin!

When I went to work this morning, the two gas stations in my neighborhood were $2.99.

When I came home, they were $3.29, a 30 cent jump!

Yesterday, the two stations dropped 10 cents to $3.19.

The Sam's Club was $2.79. That is still a 40 cent a gallon difference.

This is my first spring in Nashville. How common are nights like last night?

It'll happen a few times each year. More often there's one front line stretching north to south that comes across and you'll get a warning off of it here and there. But last night the line was west to east and the cells were lined up like a train, so the same areas got multiple warnings throughout the event, that doesn't happen as often but it's always a possibility.

As for it being "nights" like that, it's definitely more common for these storms to come through overnight, unfortunately.

Yeah the current type of weather is pretty normal, what is making it weird is that it has gotten held up by high pressure to the south east that is just strong enough to keep it in place. Everything normally just rolls through West to East fairly quickly, so you may get hit hard but its one and done.

Bigger issue is it hasn't moved since about 2am Thursday morning, which means those same areas are probably going to get hit again this evening. On top of it the ground will be saturated this go around so flooding and trees falling may become a huge issue in those areas.

I live in Shelbyville, about an hour away from Franklin and haven't seen a drop of rain, and that is jut nuts. What's worse is we could stand to have it as the counties around us are still considered in a drought.

edit: I'll add the amount of steady wind we've had this spring is something that feels different. It's not weird to have windy days before a front comes through, but it feels like 3-4 days of every week we are getting 25-30 mph winds constantly.

I saw a big hole on the radar--must have been you! Agree with you on the steadiness. It does seem different.

We got some pretty loud hail, wind and rain, but the neighborhood seems to be intact. Haven't ventured out but my sis in Donelson said it was same for her. My daughter (near Nolensville) just sent some video of a swirly cloud over her house from maybe 30 minutes ago, though, so this may be starting up again. If I get another bad weather announcement it'll be one of about 70 I've gotten over the last 24 hours. I know it's a mistake but I'm about ready to put them on ignore.

We had to go over to Cool Springs (from Hermitage) and the difference in price was stunning. Mr Adz was very low so he stopped in at a Circle K and got it for $3.24 Over on our side of town at a Circle K it was $2.77 I guess it's taxes and location location location adding to it.

My car odometer went to 54,900 yesterday. It had 10K on it when I got it used in 11/2018. So I'm averaging under 7000/year. That's why I can go 3-4 weeks without filling up!

This is why I always try to align my fill-ups with when I am in the office. The Sam's on Harding is always at least 20 cents cheaper than Cool Springs

Makes sense. I have been known to alert my daughter and sister when gas prices are significantly less. Both of them drive far more than I do and I just might get a visit out of it!

Found a bottle of Green Chartreuse on the shelf today at a liquor store. They only had one and I about fell out when I saw it. I was like a stunned kid pointing at Santa's sleigh in the sky with Rudolph leading the way. Instant buy to say the least.

The two "pirate" stations near me are back today to $2.99 again. I think that their traffic died at $3.29.

Sam's is still $2.79. I filled up my wife's car on Monday. No lines at 4 PM.
