Off-Topic and Gas Prices Tracking Thread

Let's put it this way, I wouldn't go out of my way to go to a convenience store. IF it was near my house, sure. But to go to Buc-ee's means that even if I was to go to the family homeplace in Athens AL, where there is one, it isn't on my route. THAT SAID, I never believed it about how NYC bodegas have excellent pizza and it was the best I've ever tasted, bar none. Same for New England chowder--little hole in the wall restaurant and the chowder was just amazing. So if a WaWa is convenient to me I will absolutely try the pretzels.

I like NE clam chowder. If I go to Boston, I try to stop at the Union Oyster House. One time, I came back from Boston and went to the Denny's by Mitchell Intl Airport in Milwaukee. Their chowder tasted the SAME as the Union Oyster House! If it hadn't been only 3 or 4 days in between, I would not have believed it.

When I travel near Toledo, I try to stop at Tony Packo's on Front St, the original location, and the one that Klinger talked about on MASH as "being on the Hungarian side of town". Their chicken soup tastes exactly like my Hungarian grandmother's. She has been gone since 1986, but that soup reminds me of what a wonderful cook she was.

She was also good at baking bread and cookies as well as making crepes. I have never found anybody as good for those.

Now that I am retired, I am going to work on the crepes. I tried a few years ago and they were too eggy tasting.

$2.40 at Hermitage Thorntons yesterday. Didn't go that way today to check. Looking at Gas Buddy it may be getting ready to rise again as some were listed at $2.70 down the road toward Wilson Co.
