I just want to thank the security at Brigham and Women's Hospital over an incident that happened Thursday morning.
I was checking in to see a hand specialist who was going to do an ultrasound himself on my Game 7 injury ( bashing camera on side when Blues went up 2-0 ) My iPhone X is in a wallet case and somehow in the showing my ID and insurance card and being passed a clipboard to answer questions for the doctor I put the phone on the counter like an idiot.
I knew in 30 seconds I had screwed up but the phone was gone. The receptionist called my phone and we could hear it ringing in the direction of the patient who was behind me. They called security and the lead officer saw the glare in my eyes and said don't worry.
So they talk to him and another officer noticed I had an Apple watch and she said 'Can you ping your phone?'
I did and the siren went off and the other patient said 'That can't be his phone, I shut it off'
Keep in mind they know who he is because he registered.
They asked me if I wanted to press charges and I said your call - Turned out to be moot as he had outstanding warrants in Quincy and Rhode Island. They also told me he exploited a flaw all hospitals have because of HIPPA rules on security cameras.
Bottom line - I made a mistake with my guard down but that security team defused the situation in a very professional matter. The female officer admonished me for saying I had a Discover card and said you should have said a Bruins card.
Thank You Brigham and Women's Hospital Security and Police
