He did two years ago.
It's not inconceivable.
he got over 18 mins of ice time per game on average.

I don't know I'm not from Russia, I have a hard enough time figuring out this state/Canada tax ********
All I know is it equates to a 2/7.6 contract and he can't sign it yet.
He has an offer on the table but his contract still hasn't been terminated by the Coyotes - so he legally cannot sign it.
I thought part of Nielsen's draw is that he was a sound 2-way center who can pot some points?
I only watched a handful of Islanders games last season and even less the prior years.
Personal income tax in Russia is a flat rate of 13%. Not entirely sure of any additional stuff like healthcare contributions, pension, etc.I did some in depth research (I typed 'do KHL players pay taxes' into Google), and it looks like they pretty much don't. Certainly not to the degree they do in the USA.
that demers contract pisses me off to no end.
though there is a chance he had no interest in coming here.

Signs for the same price as Helm and Ott. Lmao.
They still have a couple months until the season. But I have to eat the crow. I said the next 18 months would be big a couple trade deadlines ago. Holland gets a D for what he has done since then. I think it is probably time for him to move upstairs. I would like to hire Paul Fenton out of Nashville to be our next GM.
Landing Fowler/Trouba is probably the only thing that can save our off-season and it just seems unlikely given our inability to make trades. Holland's voice is important and I still want him around, but I think it is time for him to be Devellano and somebody new like Fenton to make the moves.
Tough reality as I love everything he has done for us and it still seems clear he doesn't want to move up just yet. But it looks like it is time, even as somebody that supports him at every turn my confidence is completely shaken. A lot of you will know just how shocking that is for me to say. But facts are facts, I am unhappy with the direction of this team and the answers he is coming up with. More must be done and if he cannot do it, we must turn to somebody else that will and value what input he does have upstairs but be no longer beholden to just his thinking and with a final say elsewhere.
I agree with most of this, but what if he were to trade for a top pair d man? Would that change your mind? Delay the inevitable? Or would you still want to make a change?
Cause IMO, (I might have my red wing tinted glasses on) but say we were to trade for fowler or shatty, we would definitely be in the thick of the playoff race. I think we have one of the best goalie pairings in the league. A good mix of younger and older players. I like our speed. Now I don't think we would be legitimately competing for a Stanley cup but I do think we have some pieces to build upon, instead of going full boar tank. But if we don't trade for a top pair d man, I really don't understand the direction KH would be taking us

Agree with this, just arrived here sooner than you did. It's definitely time.
Don't think Ryan Martin is the guy to replace him. Fenton could be a good hire, I'd like to see someone agressive on the trade front. Honestly would have really liked Shero.
I have no interest in turning to Ryan Martin. Heck when you're supposed to be the cap guru as one of your primary roles as assistant GM and we mismanage the cap at the onset of the season that is a massive strike against him. Not sure he is a change from a philosophical standpoint either. Our ideal replacements are elsewhere and not realistic on the current timeline.
