Boston Bruins Off Season Roster/ Cap Discussion

Thinking about Zacha vs Mittelstadt... I think Zacha is the better two-way player, but I think Mittelstadt is a better offensive player. They both put up 57 and 59 point seasons, but Zacha had Pasta boosting his numbers.

What do people think about Zacha becoming the new Coyle? Big, strong, two-way guy, kills penalties, wins faceoffs, gives a good effort....
Due to much better skating and slightly better instincts, Zacha profiles as a much better 3c than Coyle. Zacha will give it away under pressure, but is still much better defensively than Coyle.
Edit, I want 11 gone in the worst way. He is a total floater and a waste of decent talent. You will not win with him on your roster. .

Fraser Minten is a young JT Miller. He’s not huge, but he’s not going to get knocked around. He’s the best prospect we’ve had in a decade. I look forward to watching this kid.
He does not have the skill of JT Miller. You are going to be disappointed if you expect big stats out of him. He doesn’t even produce that in the AHL. I have high hopes that he is an elite third liner that can be a good PK guy. There is nothing I see that screams skill though in a top 6 role. Maybe he ends up a tweener as a utility guy, but the guy you crap on has a better points percentage than Minten in the AHL.

Forget who floated it but I like the idea of auctioning it off between teams picking 2-4 for their first plus whoever gives the most.

I had this debate about a week or so back without going into it again I disagree, if they got No.1 I take Schaefer and don't even think twice unless a team came at them with some sort of ridiculous offer. And I mean ridiculous.

The one exception would be I'd listen at whoever has the 2nd pick. Let's say it's San Jose, I'd want the 2nd so at least the Bruins got Misa, and I'd still need another very strong asset. For example, I think the Sharks are picking again at #28. That isn't enough for me to drop from Schaefer to Misa. I'd consider San Jose's own 1st rounder next year knowing should also result in a high pick (and a shot at McKenna) but that's probably too rich for San Jose's blood just to get Schaefer over Misa.

I don't think I'd even talk to teams picking 3 and 4.

I won't go so far as to say he sucks, because from what hear and understand, the kid works hard, seems like a good kid, but unfortunately for this this thinks of him as some kind of savior, he is not, should have made the team, coming out of camp his first year that hurt him, but also agree I just do not see a NHL player, atleast to the extent that fans feel about him.
He compares to Donato to me. I didn’t think he would amount to nothing and yet he has scored @30 this year. We give up on kids way too early.

I wonder if Zadorov will try to recruit Boeser to come to Boston. I think I heard they were friends at one point.
Marchand is coming back - I’m so positive if I’m wrong the mods can ban me for 365 days or forever wherever they want

Not sure what he gets back I’m assuming around 7. No need for Boeser

I want to keep my eye on Necas ~ Bruins have opening on L2 RW and he can play with Zacha & Pasta

Necas would be nice, although he is a year away from FA, but big no to Marchand, but I still do not want you banned.

To late on Marshy. He’s back in 25-26

I’m not worried about it because Marchand got a hall pass to play with Florida for a couple of months

Bruins top 6 pretty good

Geekie-Lindholm - Pastrnak
Marchand - Zacha- TBD

I would make a wager, but I do not want take anyone's assets. You have a better chance of seeing Marner here.

If Marchand comes back it would feel like a step backwards to me .I pray they move forward.

I don’t understand this fascination of uniting players who have the same native language. Has Necas ever played a regular season with Zacha or Pastrenak ? Don’t they speak hockey when they’re on the ice? Why don’t we have an all French Canadian line? This way they can parlez vous when on a shift.

What about targeting Conor Geekie instead of Necas if you are going within the division for a winger trade? Gotta imagine it would cost less, and Tampas hands are tied this summer. I understand the kid isn’t proven yet, and Necas is an absolute baller, but he looks poised to blow up in the next year or so. Finding a way to provide some minor relief for them in some way could help you land Conor at a lower price and keep more assets/cap soacd, and then you have a pair of happy Geeks.

Tampa is not trading him to Boston, they need a low contract

Minten is what he is, a 3rd line competent NHL center down the road.
I would highly doubt he ever scores more than 60 points in a season, let alone 103 like JT scored.

I think DePietro deserves a chance to play in Boston.
Get what you can for Korpi or buy him out.
We cannot afford 11M on goalies.
The money can be better spent on a winger that can score 25+ goals.

How do you know that he has only played a hand full of games, that is where he should be third line next year, and maybe that is what he is, but to label him now is wrong, and no he will most likely will not be J.T. Miller.

Marchand will be 37 next month . ! year contract is the most I'd be comfortable with . Bruin's need to build for the future

I'd like Marchand back on a 1 year deal. Honestly i hate this years FA class, and would be pretty happy with 1 year deal in hopes of taking the cap space into the next year, even if it is a 1 year deal at what I think is too much money. Unfortunately I fear it will be a 3 year deal which I think is too much because it kind of almost feels like a minor miracle Marchand is as good as he is at this point in his career with all his injuries.

People do develop in different ways. JT Millers development curve is pretty darn unique. Statistically at least he did nothing in his Age 22 and below seasons in minors, and juniors to suggest he would be the player he became There isn't much in Minten Junior or AHL statistics to suggest he will develop into a top 6 player, but maybe he will be the oddball
