My opinion, and that is the one that counts..............I have read yoursMeh think that's overselling Zacha
good luck to that over payment.Probably Toronto, looking for a Marner replacement.
I didn’t realize Marner was more of a setup guy. He’s only reached 30 goals twice. If I’m GM and allocating 13-14m per for a player I’d aim for a goal scorer not an assist man. Pastrnak & Geekie are the only scorers on this team. 6 players skate in your top-6, you have 2 goal scorers. You need at minimum one more.102 point winger free agent age 28 on free agency that rarely happens. Sign.

Definitely, especially if their management team is looking to receive more insight from Berube.Probably Toronto, looking for a Marner replacement.
Exactly.Definitely, especially if their management team is looking to receive more insight from Berube.
I worry about Poitras health. After hearing Mougenel speak on some prospects, he expects Poitras to make the Bruins next season. Locmelis will fight for a spot on the roster, and depending on his Summer, Minten could also make the push. He said good things about Lysell, but didn't really give him the same vote of confidence as he did the other three. It wouldn't hurt for Lysell to get first line minutes in the AHL next season if he's not a part of a trade.
Geekie - Lindholm - Pastrnak
Zacha - Mittelstadt - X
Locmelis - Poitras - X
X - X - Kastelic
Bruins at minimum need two top 6 wingers. It would be great to get a middle 6 forward with experience to play on Poitras' RW. Sweeney needs to load up that 2nd line with some good players.
Sweeney should have offered up a better package to the Flames when they gave him away
The Bruins have enough options at center. E. Lindholm, Mittelstadt, Zacha and Kastelic are a strong cadre if they choose them.I agree, although I like both Zacha and Mittelstadt better at center.
I liked what I saw of Khusnutdinov and think he could be an energetic 3LW. He might even break through offensively.
I'd put Minten in the Poitras, Locmelis, Lysell category of they haven't done enough to be considered a top6 guy next year. IMO, if they keep a spot open for a kid in the top6 next year, it has to be because the other two guys are already really strong top6 forwards.
OT: Lately I've really liked the idea of Zacha as the 3c. He's big and fast, he wins draws, he's committed defensively, but his offense is so... hit or miss that I don't love relying on him in a top6 role. As a 3c his offense is a bonus.
Khusnutdinov-Zacha-3RW is the start of a very good 3rd line.
Zacha has averages 55 + points per season for 3 years playing multiple positions but developing into a solid C
Sam Bennett & Anton Lundell in a combined 12 seasons have not hit 55 points once
I have no problem with a healthy Elias & Zacha one-two punch the problem is the Bruins are short at least one legit top 6 RW
He creates offense at an elite level 5v5, which is the rarest commodity in the NHL. You’re not getting a guy who gets to 100 points by scoring 45 goals in free agency.I didn’t realize Marner was more of a setup guy. He’s only reached 30 goals twice. If I’m GM and allocating 13-14m per for a player I’d aim for a goal scorer not an assist man. Pastrnak & Geekie are the only scorers on this team. 6 players skate in your top-6, you have 2 goal scorers. You need at minimum one more.
I see him as a complimentary scorer, because his offense is inconsistent, but I don't see him as a complimentary 3rd liner. I think Zacha is a very industrious player who impacts the game at both ends of the ice. I think he can be the best player on a 3rd line and that line be very good. If he's in a top6 role, I think he has to be the worst player on the line for the line to be very good. Which is going to be hard to do for the Bruins this summer.I see him kind of the same way. He's a complimentary guy and does compliment offensive players. Big body, decent shooter, decent at both ends of the ice.
On the 3rd line he's likely having to be the best player on that line and I'm not sure that would be the role I'd want him in.
That's a good point about Bennett. The obvious difference there is that Bennett has scored at close to a 30 goal pace in the playoffs (28 goals per 82) these last 3 years while Zacha scores at a 3 goal pace in the playoffs (3 goals per 82).Zacha has averages 55 + points per season for 3 years playing multiple positions but developing into a solid C

Ok, but now do the playoff numbers. I just see Zacha as a rich man’s Heinen. Which is good! But he needs to be the teams 5th or 6th best forward.
I just feel like getting Petterson and putting him on the wing so Elias can play center is like towing a landscape trailer with a Ferrari. That's a good example because you'd have one shooter (Geekie) with two complimentary-type of guys (Elias and Zacha). I don't think it would work.
I know you didn't fussy my idea to put Petterson on LW but he's played the position before successfully and if you still have the same group of forwards around it balances out the top 2 lines better.
Geekie - Zacha - Pasta
Petterson - Elias - ???? (maybe add the speed of a Lysell?)
That's a great comp, and he gives you that same feeling in the playoffs, like no matter how good the scoring chance, he's going to miss. Still a very good and useful player.Ok, but now do the playoff numbers. I just see Zacha as a rich man’s Heinen. Which is good! But he needs to be the teams 5th or 6th best forward.
I could see Toronto doing this. I could see them trying to sign Bennett, Marchand and Ekblad instead of Marner and Tavares. Overpay or not, it would in fact give them a more balanced roster.Probably Toronto, looking for a Marner replacement.
How many players making north of 12m don’t score 30 goals regularly? ZeroHe creates offense at an elite level 5v5, which is the rarest commodity in the NHL. You’re not getting a guy who gets to 100 points by scoring 45 goals in free agency.
Bennett is more impactful but they are different playersThat's a good point about Bennett. The obvious difference there is that Bennett has scored at close to a 30 goal pace in the playoffs (28 goals per 82) these last 3 years while Zacha scores at a 3 goal pace in the playoffs (3 goals per 82).
I also look at it like... If Zacha has scored at a 55 point pace for 3 years playing primarily with Pasta, then it's reasonable to assume his numbers are going to drop without Pasta. And if he drops to a 45 point pace, then that's not really quality 2nd line production.
He's still a terrific player. I like your Coyle comparison. I see that too. He's big, he's strong, he's fast. He's very noticeable at both ends of the ice. He competes, he wins draws. He's a guy I want on my team.
I find it hard to believe with a new team prez/leadership and voice coming in they just let Marner walk away….He creates offense at an elite level 5v5, which is the rarest commodity in the NHL. You’re not getting a guy who gets to 100 points by scoring 45 goals in free agency.
Not a bad comparison i like it, but Heinen gave it away less.Ok, but now do the playoff numbers. I just see Zacha as a rich man’s Heinen. Which is good! But he needs to be the teams 5th or 6th best forward.
Not even close - he’s my better version of Coyle which is pretty goodOk, but now do the playoff numbers. I just see Zacha as a rich man’s Heinen. Which is good! But he needs to be the teams 5th or 6th best forward.
