Boston Bruins Off Season Roster/ Cap Discussion III

Has a fanbase ever turned on a goalie so quick for one mediocre season. A year ago coming out of the 1st round everyone was singing his praises.

I've seen piles of awful goalie performances in this year's playoffs just as bad as Swayman's worst performances this past year.

Too many here think it's still the 1990s and goalies should routinely put up sub 2.00 GAA and a SP over .930.
It was the perfect storm of his own creation, held out for more money touting his increased business acumen (MBA Sway) and concern about setting the market for others. Missed all of training camp and the preseason and then woefully underperformed. Fans turned for sure, but they had help from him. Hoping he turns it around this year, the fans will turn back with him.

Not this Great! McDavid, Makar, Kaprizov and Eichel. Those guys are worth waiting for to see if they become available. But yea your right there's a long time between now and next July 1 and more than likely their teams are going to do what they can to get those 4 signed.

Which they won't.

Brady Martin is who I would draft after a couple of drinks when I enter into the ‘seems like fun zone’

If this was 2015 not 2025 Hell yah

If
Schaefer
Misa
Hagens
Martone
Desnoyers
Frondell
are gone

I’m taking Eklund

We need a winger who can match up with Cole Caufield

Especially after the news Crosby has blessed Locmelis in World tourney in Sweden
Brady Martin is how you win in the playoffs. He gives you the elusive "toughness in the top 6" and is my guy at 7 all day.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him go before 7.

I don't believe that..

Brad's stepson 's dad could stop them from moving to Florida.

His wife loves Boston.

He has 3 kids.

Florida sucks.
Florida doesn’t suck from November through March. I personally wouldn’t want to leave New England, but if you don’t have ties to this area it could be very enticing.

100% this^

Lets take Mikko Rantanen. He signed for 8yr/$12 million a year in Dallas. Colorado and Carolina are both very good teams, cup contenders in fact. The total taxes Mikko would pay over those 8yrs with each team:

COL - $39.4 million
CAR - $39.7 million
DAL - $35.1 million

So Mikko nets $4.3 to $4.6 million more over the life of his contract by signing with Dallas

That’s before tax shenanigans, of course.

I dunno. Did the Bruins ever have to pay any of their players a tax premium?

Tkachuk wanted to go there as have several other NHL players. I thought Marchand was quoted as saying that Florida is where he wanted to go?

Agreed. I'd rather bet on Swayman returning to form.

For the record, I am more confidant of Pettersson returns to form over Swayman. That gives you an idea of the odds and how I see both of them having good years next year.

That's exactly why Mittelstadt, Poitras + something else make sense from Bruins perspective. I don't think they are trading Swayman this offseason, but another atrocious season, that could change quickly.
