Many had the same questions about Pastrnak for the longest time. Personally, I think he can run his own line in the same way that Pastrnak does. His pedigree is pretty extensive.

I think he's the Leafs best player. He's the best player on a team with a flawed core. Players like this in their prime just don't become available very often. Who was the last? Rantanan, Tkachuk, or Eichel maybe? All trade. Gaudreau is probably the last UFA I can think of. Just get the elite game breaking player at 28 and think about the rest later.

ok but Mitch got 33 pts on the PP last year. Have you seen our PP?

Forget Marner he’s staying in Toronto

I’m the Leafs GM I’m letting Taveras go even if he will play for minimum and break up the core of four that’s like a heavy crown

My top 6 F has four studs: AM, Nylander, Marner, Knies

They need to stop letting fans influence their decisions

that doesn't sound like a man staying...

"I loved my time here" doesn't sound like an enthusiastic return.

Jeff O'Neill said it best yesterday re: Tavares. In Games 5,6 and 7, he couldn't even make a play. Bang on description of Tavares in those games. He's totally against bringing Tavares back under any circumstances. 35 in September and struggles with the pace of playoff play and especially against the pace the Panthers play.

It's called a negotiation. Why overplay your hand? Apparently during his last negotiation his camp threatened to go play in Switzerland if they didn't give him what he wanted.

Psychologically as well ~ they resign Marner, bring up Cowan

Work in kids and go fast

They have a D that can defend

So the argument is that our power play is awful but we shouldn’t try to add more talent to it, good stuff

We'll that's silly.

We're saying Mitch played on a PP with 3 other offensive beasts that we don't have, which makes that 100+ pt total look a lot more attainable, and possibly worth 13-15M

But if he gets 75 pts in Boston for 15M....

I'd move on from Reilly if I was them. It's always been the Core 5, he's been part of this for the duration and needs to own it as much as any of the core forwards.

If they had counted Jones's 2nd goal (and by all accounts it should of been a goal but Maurice didn't challenge), he would of been minus 4 in about the span of 10 mins in a Game 7. Their best game of the series was Game 6 and he was 6th among D in ice time. He has a NMC so hard to do but if I was them I'd move him for a puck-moving D who can skate and transition the puck, evade forecheckers, QB their PP and get Marner back closer to the net.

I hear you and I do agree in the sense that I'd rather them not just make moves/trades/signings just for the sake of making moves. If the right opportunity doesn't present itself this summer, I'm fine keeping the cap space and wait for the right opportunity. I said the same thing last summer when I thought they'd be better off holding the cap space than signing Elias Lindholm who I felt was more of what they already had and didn't address their true needs up front like speed and play driving ability.
Right on point, no need to make a move similar to last season, just to make a move and I said the same thing you did. I would talk to ever will listen about the trade market, but don't force a move like last offseason. One negative to what you and I are saying is the clock is ticking on Pasta.

True, they would probably at the very least have to make a big move by next off-season.

What do you think, Coach? Two players (Mittelstadt, Poitras) + two picks (not 2025?)?
I have gone back and forth with the thoughts of getting Petterson, his skill level screams go out and get this guy, but the back-room noise bothers me. Losing Poitras, Middlestadt, is not an issue for me. Why does Mason McTavish keeps screaming in my ear I am the guy?

Rielly is due $7.5M a year for 5 more years. That's a negative value contract. Not sure how they easily move on from him even if he would waive.

I don't believe that..

Brad's stepson 's dad could stop them from moving to Florida.

His wife loves Boston.

He has 3 kids.

Florida sucks.

i dont disagree with you but this is based on personal and political opinions

an NHL athlete will have a great time in Florida, as they will have a great time in Boston.

youll have to elaborate on the bolded

Brad's oldest is not his biological son. Their relationship seems very good. I read his real dad still sees him and moving to Florida may not be OK.

Also, his parents (from Nova Scotia) visit often. Boston is a lot closer than Florida.

Look, I have NO idea what Brad will do but will be sad if he leaves. Seeing him on another team hurts my heart.

I was hoping after his on-ice career is over he would work for the Bs.

perhaps, but a small factor in the grand scheme

I hope he returns too but I think it's a stretch to say he wont move to florida because of schools and health care - Health care sucks ass in this entire country. Sure, MA has the best elite hospitals IF you need it, but that's not a regular occurrence.

Private schools can be good everywhere.

Florida is beautiful and nice year round, if you have the money to own a nice property you're living the good life

One thing I will say though about marchand because I want him back too, someone here posted but I forgot to quote reply, that why would he want to come back when Sweeney didn't "value" him enough the first time. This is a false premise, because it assumes its a zero sum game. The winds are constantly changing and now the make up of the team is different. Things have happened since. And things will continue to happen. If he offers Marchand what he wanted because they can now fit it in, Im fairly confident he returns.
