Boston Bruins Off Season Roster/ Cap Discussion II

Marchment, McCann, Rossi, Kings may make some moves, etc. Trade route is definitely the way to go.
Dallas is handcuffed and will likely need to sell low on Marchment akin to us with Hall. He’s still under 30 and his cap hit is only 4.5 mil. Great bargain alternative to spending double that on Ehlers to fill a LW role.

Then all we need is Marchand and Marchessault to complete the legendary full evolution of March. Too bad one of them doesn’t play center of we could have an Ides of March line

The only question is, was Jake interested in staying ???
It bites that he and Boesers production is so similar, yet JDB signed for 5.25 and Boeser will be an extra 3mil. The real kicker is that for a guy that publicly asked for trades, we didn’t find a trade partner in any one of the multiple years he had issues and he walked. All we have to show for the entire 2015 draft is Minten, Jackson Edwards, and Torontos 1st next year.

If Florida wins the series the Bruins have multiple first round picks in next couple of drafts - I would flip Toronto or Florida for Issac Howard

Home run adding him to top 6
Those two picks could be better than currently expected.

1. Toronto could take a step back and get Ko’d in first round if they lose Marner. A rash of injuries and hmmmmmmm.

2. Florida is going to have a stretch of 4/5 years of deep playoff runs after next year. An aging roster could slip in 26/27 season. Kind of like what happened to TB. Still good. Just not great and possible early playoff exit by then.

I kind of want to keep picks at least until trade deadline prior to draft year.

Take this one with a huge grain of salt:

If true not the worse move the Bruins could make, I know the contract and age comes in when you look at it but, talks of Ehlers, Boeser and others around the 8 mil price, I think Zib is a better asset, and I will not mention what Lindhom gets so has not to piss anyone off.

Bruins should stay away from Marner no matter what and block his agent phone number the second he calls.

I think the pick will move to a ‘27 first, but IF Florida trades their ‘26 first round pick, then Chicago gets the ‘27 pick and we bump to ‘28. If I understood that correctly.
The conditional second-round draft pick will become a 2027 or 2028 first-round draft pick if Florida wins two rounds of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs and Marchand appears in at least 50% of the team’s playoff games. Boston will retain 50 percent of Marchand’s salary.

Per 82 games:

Boeser 30-34-64 - playoffs 31-34-65

Debrusk 25-22-47 - playoffs 26-19-45

Similar?

hell no

if you can get young top 6 guys from teams that have a surplus in one area and a deficit in another, you do it and dont look back

Pasta is 28. The goal should be a cup sometime over the next 5 years, after that we're talking about Cinderella years which is the mistake we made with the old core.

I go back and forth on trading firsts sometimes. But Floridas27/28? Eff it. We still have our own. Same with torontos 2026. Use them towards ready now players that were formerly drafted in the first round like Necas, Berniers, or an offer sheet for the right guy (Howard could maybe be just a 2nd + prospect). Otherwise you may not ever see them in the NHL, and they could easily take until 2030+ to develop if they do. 5 firsts right now (assuming Florida wins) between 2026 and 2028 is too many for a club trying to become a wagon sooner rather than later. Picks aren’t precious, players are, and we need better guarantees “we may get another Lysell or Beecher in a draft in 3 years”

Last 4 seasons-

JDB: 42pts, 50, 40,48

Boeser: 46pts, 55, 73, 50

I’d call that pretty similar and enough to bring it up when Boeser projection is 3.25million more for the same 2rw position, and the Canucks being involved with both players. Debrusk had played significantly less games in 22/23. Boeser had a stellar year last year with 40 goals I’ll give him that along with better playoff production, but I’d also say Boeser has had better linemates probably these past few years. JDB had some third line minutes at one point, also on PK a lot, and Boeser had more first line deployments if I remember right? Boeser is a better offensive player for sure and would love to have him or any 25-30 goal scorer right now, but I don’t know that I love him at 8.5 exactly.

There was a time when the kings really wanted JDB for example, and they had Vilardi and Byfield and were weighing options. I’d rather be paying them 8.5 this summer.

Edit: where are you getting these “per 82 games” numbers from? Was that supposed to be last season? Boeser had 50 points in 75 games, so I’m not understanding where you are getting that 68point number.

He was when they offered him a contract mid-season. Then after, Sweeney never made another. JDB is on record saying he was surprised Sweeney never came back with another contract. It's similar to what happened here with Krug.

Bs need leadership. Once Brad was traded the only one on the ice with a letter was Pasta. That is just pathetic. Even in the pre-season games there are 3 players on the ice with letters.

At one game, I asked someone who works behind the bench why there were no other players wearing an "A"?. He said who?

I really hope Brad returns for many reasons. He is indeed a leader. It is nice to see him playing in the playoffs, but he doesn't look good in red. Yes, he is 37 BUT he defiantly has some gas left in the tank. I have no idea if he will come back to Boston (a good hockey friend of mine says he will), but I hope he does. No one works as hard as Brad Marchand...every shift...every game. The game is always more exciting when he is there.
As someone who’s close up, do you think Brad is good for / good with the kids? There was talk of him not wanting to play with rookies and I thought he said something along the lines of ‘he could have done a better job with the kids and forgot what it was like to be a new player coming in.’

I don't see that. IMO, he has always been good with any new Bs. Also think Pasta is good with the young players

I remember going to Warrior for camp and Brad had pulled Matty P. aside and was working with him. From where we sit he seems good with all of his fellow players.

I agree on Toronto but don’t want to say anything till I know they are dead lol

Gotta get the Florida pick tomorrow locked up but yes on Leafs 1. It is conditional though ? Not sure what

I think Isaac Howard would be great here - he’s fast and skilled and he’s kinda got a chip attitude which fits in this area/fan base

It’s all about the skill of the top 6 and with him and say Frondell or Eklund added to Pastrnak & Geekie you got a young skilled group

There was so much shit talk BS that we heard about Marchand this season and I don’t believe a damn word of it. All PR nonsense geared towards making Bruins fans okay with them moving on from him. Precisely why I don’t believe they have any intention of reuniting this offseason.

I know Marner is a talented player, and that he has ppg production in these playoffs, but I just cannot see a world where I would be confident handing him $13-14 million a year.

I know the Bruins really need talent, I just don’t know if he is the answer. Earlier in the year I was actually really into the idea too.
