It is if your acquiring for him a true 3rd baseman and starting pitcher!!!

Would you rather have Biggio, our existing starting rotation, and Gonzalez OR Bryant/Hendricks and Gonzalez OR Gray/Moose and Gonzalez?

Im not saying its going to happen, but definitely something the Jays should be looking into.

You solidify 3rd base, starting pitching and replace utility type player at the cost of possibly only one player on your roster Biggio!

That's not the point. The point is that adding Gonzalez doesn't make anyone (including Gonzalez and Biggio) redundant. Adding Gonzalez makes sense whether Biggio is there or not, so it shouldn't have any impact on whether or not they're looking at trading Biggio.

I like Biggio a lot. Probably wouldn’t want to move him. He’s the type of guy that will have a 10-15 year career as a solid player. Probably not a star player but a guy good enough that it would sting to see him elsewhere for the next decade.
Agreed, he’s a good player; I’d endorse trading him, but only for something more rare, a frontline starter with term.

A guy on TSN is ranking the Jays prospects from 1 to 50 over three days, but I don’t know how to add links.

There are some risers and some ‘more results than tools stuff’ that didn’t even make the top 50.

Good sign.

Scott Mitchell, from what I remember he has done this for the last year or two.
He’s done 31-50, and 11-30, with the top 10 coming tomorrow.

TSN's top 50 Toronto Blue Jays prospects: 31-50
TSN's top 50 Blue Jays prospects: 11-30

I wish when sites put together ordinal lists they would format them lowest to highest. A top 50 list should start you on #50 and work your way up to the higher spots.

Doing it like they did (click the 31-50 set and you start at 31 and head down to 50) means you start with the names you recognize and then potentially tap out when you start going "I don't know who that is". Doing it the other way around starts you with the unknowns and keeps you reading until you get to the familiar names and the "climax" of the highest ratings.

Mild shout-out to Mitchell's #15, Yosver Zulueta, who seems to be the "I'm gonna rank a guy highly to be different and see how it goes" pick. I've never heard that name before in relation to the Jays' prospect pool (he was apparently the return from the O's for Dwight Smith Jr) and all of a sudden Mitchell pops him up in the top 15.

Yeah um give me Biggio for hopefully the rest of his career

I first saw him about a week ago as the #28 on BA's list. The 2nd "Who?" I has to make after they ranked Victor Mesia number 17.

The return for Smith Jr was international money was it not? Is he just assuming that that money went to Zulueta or was there a direct, we have extra money now, and we signed this guy with it connection.

2019-20 MLB International Reviews: Toronto Blue Jays
It seems they signed him in June 2019 after the trade, so I assume it was with either the Smith Jr trade or with the Kendrys Morales trade.

One other fun thing now that I'm triple-posting:

What if I take Mitchell's list and organize it by where the prospects are projected to start the 2021 season?

Toronto (MLB)
Julian Merryweather (RHP) (#13)

Buffalo (AAA)
Curtis Taylor (RHP) (#36)
Jackson Rees (RHP) (#35)
Josh Palacios (OF) (#31)
TJ Zeuch (RHP) (#27)
Patrick Murphy (RHP) (#26)
Kevin Smith (SS) (#18)
Joey Murray (RHP) (#17)

New Hampshire (AA)
Maximo Castillo (RHP) (#39)
Samad Taylor (2B/OF) (#38)
Chavez Young (OF) (#37)
Elvis Luciano (RHP) (#34)
Nick Allgeyer (LHP) (#33)
Otto Lopez (Util) (#12)

Vancouver (High-A)

Philip Clarke (C) (#47)
Roither Hernandez (RHP) (#41)

Yhoangel Aponte (OF) (#50)
Martin Gimenez (SS) (#49)
Victor Mesa (C) (#46) (not to be confused with Victor Victor Mesa)
Alejandro Melean (RHP) (#43)
Naswell Paulino (LHP) (#42)
Peniel Brito (3B/OF) (#32)
Manuel Beltre (SS) (#25)
Sem Robberse (RHP) (#24)
Rikelvin de Castro (SS) (#21)
Estiven Machado (SS) (#19)
Dasan Brown (OF) (#14)

Not placed
Eric Pardihno (RHP) (#23)

Based on the names we haven't seen, the remaining top 10 to be ranked by Mitchell are (alphabetically):

Jordan Groshans (3B)
Miguel Hiraldo (3B)
Alejandro Kirk (C)
Alek Manoah (RHP)
Austin Martin (SS/2B/CF/???)
Orelvis Martinez (SS)
Gabriel Moreno (C)
Nate Pearson (RHP)
CJ Van Eyk (RHP)
Simeon Woods Richardson (RHP)

From that list I would extremely hesitantly guess based on my armchair baseball sense:

MLB: Pearson, Kirk
AAA: None, at least immediately
AA: Groshans, Moreno, Woods Richardson
Hi-A: Hiraldo, Manoah, Martin
Lo-A: Van Eyk, Martinez

Damn that Canadians team would be fun to watch.

C: Clarke
1B:
2B: Morris
3B: Hiraldo
SS: Martin
LF:
CF:
RF: Robertson

Rotation: Manoah, Kloffenstein, Palmer, Hernandez

You're right. I didn't read the blurb closely enough. he was a late IFA signing using the money gained from the combination of the Smith Jr and Morales trades.

Still. major "who the heck is that?" moment when he popped up at #15 on the Mitchell/TSN list.

Who is everyone's sleeper and breakout prospect for this year?

Breakout: Hiraldo/Lopez
Sleeper: Britton

Can really pick anyone in our low minors. Hiraldo is one guy i am big on for a breakout, especially from his bat. But from an all around standpoint im going with Moreno, i predict that he will be our 3rd best position player behind Martin and Groshans. He might be our next blue chipper.

From a sleeper perspective ill go with Trent Palmer.

Deep sleeper is Jean-Christophe Masson. Youngest player from the 2019 draft with a high ceiling though an extremely low floor.

I know Martinez is already a top 100 prospect by some publications. But I think he's going to be borderline top 10 after this season. Moreno as mentioned above is also a good pick. People really underestimate how good he is. I've had him above Kirk since they both have become more known and even despite how good Kirk has been I still think Moreno is better.

Martinez is a good pick. The only thing holding him back so far is that he's a long way from the majors, but his 2019 was insane.

Does Moreno count? He's already broken out and really highly rated, but I think he's gonna go nuts this year.

Him and Pardinho.
I'm not sure about criteria anymore. If we include already top prospects then Martinez is my guy. That bat speed is drool worthy.

Good call on Dominguez. I forgot the name of the interesting but short righthander we had in rookie ball.

My breakout is Moreno as well. From what I gather he did very well in the Dominican League. An athletic catcher with a good bat is not easy to get.

Sleeper, I like Pardinho or Jimenez. Pardinho was a top ten prospect but got injured. People seem to be forgetting about him. Jimenez very good d at SS from what I have read. Good batter but missing power. He has bulked up.

Quinones was another one in ‘19 who had a strong start.

My sleeper is Jackson Rees. He could move quickly.

Breakout guy, I really want it to be Patrick Murphy. Seems his stuff could play up out of the pen, could end up a late inning power arm. Can’t have enough of those.

Unfortunately his hot start could have been explained.

Blue Jays prospect Luis Quinones suspended 80 games - Sportsnet.ca

Unfortunate for him, due to the lost season last year, he has to serve the suspension this year.
