Proposal: Off-Season Jets & Ducks

To Anaheim: Kyle Connor & Jacob Trouba

To Winnipeg: Hampus Lindholm, Sam Steel & 2nd Round pick.

And Steel is a pretty good prospect but he is no Trouba.

Regardless, I don't see the Jets packaging 2 top players together in a trade.

Overpayment by the Jets. There really is no situation where the Jets can package two players of this calibre, and walk away winners. They'll trade their pieces separately, and get cost-controlled or equal valued pieces back.

Interesting, but not really interested in moving Lindholm... it also doesn't work from Anaheim perspective due to both players being RFA.

I imagine Connor will look at the nylander contract, prob gunna get around 6 id imagine. Trouba prob gunna get 6.5-7.5 id imagine, not really worth it from Anaheim perspective... + steel is one of our only centers that can take over for kesler/getzlaf… got to wait and see with him. Not sure we can even fit it right now.

But it was a pretty solid trade... prob a few tweeks to make it work if the contracts were different.

Connor and Trouba will BOTH likely get more on their upcoming contracts than what Lindholm is currently getting. We're up against the cap as it is, this is simply just not possible for Anaheim.

You're not talking contacts into account when comparing Trouba and Lindholm. Hampus signed for multiple years at 5M vs Trouba unsigned and reportedly asking for 7M +

Yeah, in this day and age contracts have as much if not more value than a player's skill. If you cannot fit them in financially it doesn't matter how good they are.

I'd assume a deal like that woud be predicated on the belief that Trouba woudnt sign long term. I know there has been a lot of contention on that idea. Not saying it's true either.
