My head is spinning just thinking of the meme potential.

I would anticipate a not insignificant plus from our side in a Jansen/Nootbar swap but as long as it's not too crazy I'm down. A prospect not named Moreno, Tiedemann, Barger, Barriera, Toman and I'm a yes. Though I'd also rather not sell low on Orelvis, and losing Zulueta would be sad since we need him(but I can't take everyone off limits)

Say Nootbar and Austin Love for Jansen, Richards, Kasevich, Dallas

Sounds happy with the process. Rumor was the Yankees offered him a broadcast role and he wanted to stay in the game. I believe the Yankees have a vacant coach position open and their fans aren’t happy.

Also how did I not know this was a real thing event;

Good young team with a rookie manager. If he fails Mattingly is the natural successor waiting in the wings. If it works out as is he has a light role until another opportunity presents itself
And if they do well the narrative will likely suggest he’s provided the vet/experienced leadership to help get them over the top. Which helps him find that next opportunity.

Yankees won't bring in Mattingly because he becomes an immediate threat to take Aaron Boone's job the moment things go south again. I would absolutely love to bring him in as a bench coach. Good veteran presence for Schneider to have and good for the younger guys as they learn to take it to the next level.

Nootbar is a nice option because of his control. The control evens things out in a Jansen trade. But Jansen is a far better player. Defensive catchers that can frame the ball and hit are rare and worth more then corner outfielders. 2.9 bWAR over 72 games prorates to 6 WAR over 150 games which is essentially a top 20 player in the game. Obviously he has never done that though for a full season so I’m ok to sell high. But the Cardinals are getting a heck of a catcher. Jansen for Nootbar 1 for 1 seems fair to me. Also let’s not forget the cardinals are also selling high. Nootbar could just as easily revert back to a bottom of the lineup corner outfielder as he was in 2021.

I don't disagree with the premise (Jansen for Noot base is good enough for me too), but I do think there are encouraging signs for Noot

- Good peripherals (nice amount of red on statcast page)
- Probably not a platoon bat
- Scorching 2nd half
- Does not whiff that much, rarely chases
- Overhauled swing during covid offseason with driveline
- Was BABIP'd last season and may see a boost in 2023 with shift change
- 5 years of control

Although there are some concerns, mostly involving the fact that he was really only hot for 2 months (July/August).
