Goalies don't have the same trade value as skaters. The last time a goalie was traded for "an elite piece" was Cory Schneider for 9th overall (Bo Horvat). The time before that was Ryan Miller rental to St Louis Blues.

You’re right that goalies have less value than skaters, but wasn’t Schneider, was really good, backup to Bobby Lou?

They got Bo Horvat lol. Pretty good player for the backup who had 90 career games at that point. Goalies that are average don’t have much value because they are replaceable. The top guys have huge value.

We don’t see elite goalies traded because no one is dumb enough to give those guys up. Vasilevski, Shesterkin, Hellebyuck, pretty much all the elite guys stay in one place. The flames just got a mid first and Kevin Bahl for 34 year old Markstrom who isn’t even that good. Similar package to what’s offered here.
