When you compare somebody to Brazil, you're talking about a team that could explode for 5 goals but doesn't do much else and wants to win high-scoring games.
I like that that's what they're telling themselves as they struggle to generate 2 goals and 15 shots at even strength. Yeah, this team brings back shades of Rivaldo and Ronaldinho with their dump-ins and turnovers.

My takeaway from Shesterkin’s comment was the they weren’t defending.

The Rangers have a goalie that's having a Vezina worthy season and they have a huge cushion, as well as a Norris caliber D. They're not missing the playoffs no matter how poorly they play.

Well, I'm not mad at Igor. There's a language barrier and he's not gonna go to the media and be like "my teammates suck."
My anger is directed towards the Rangers because I know the Rangers, and I guarantee you they all think they're this firewagon "WHOOA WE'RE CRAZY!!" skill team. Just look at how Zibanejad and Panarin play on a regular f***ing basis. They think they're the Globetrotters.
Meanwhile it's a fight to stay awake watching them play offense.

I've been saying this all year dude. Im glad you've reverted to your angry curmudgeon version of you. Every play needs to be showtime and highlight reel. They don't play actual hockey.
Everybody's up in arms with Hunt. Gallant puts Hunt with Panarin and Strome for the same damn reason Quinn put Blackwell there. To add some north south and make it at least 85-90% east west instead of 110%. Yeah, he can't finish for shit. Well, too bad.
Playoffs are *very likely*, but not a foregone conclusion because the team isn't very good. There are teams that are just so much worse, and Long Island shit the bed, so Igor and Fox had an opening.
We *are* looking at a fight for the wild card down the stretch. That is fine and probably the best we could have expected going into this year anyway. We STILL don't even have a full NHL caliber team, even at full strength. It's a miracle we built a cushion this big.

my concern is Gallant has been too soft on them. If we're running out of gas now, the break is great.... but what's happening come playoff time?

I'm not actually an angry curmudgeon which is why I gave hem every chance this year before I got mad.
I get this way because I have a hockey team with a lot of potential (and this is going back to 2014) that blows it doubling down on a style that doesn't f***ing work and the more it doesn't work, the more they think they need to do it, like a boa constrictor. They've regressed towards more and more cartoon hockey with each year that has passed.
And when it once again doesn't work, they'll just go right back to their security blanket that they weren't tough enough and sign some more overpaid grit. Then, next year, since we have Igor, we'll only shoot on clean breakaways and take out the first three rows of the stands so we can back up even more.
The worst thing is, I thought this was all because AV is a f***ing clown (which he still is) and Quinn was over his head, but now we have one of the consensus best coaches in the league and it's the same thing. Evidently, this is coming down from the front office and it's what they want. The inmates are running the asylum.

Oh yeah Sam was completely fed up with the linesmen and for good reason. They were pump faking the centers out to the point it looked intentional and thus every faceoff after a while had both centers basically confused because of the stupid standard the linesmen were setting today. Truly bush league stuff from them.

There’s fair analysis about some of this teams issues and potential problems in its performance and then there’s straight up moping all the time which is what others get off on doing.

This team is dying for more NHL caliber top 9 talent. The entire bottom 6 is is AHL caliber, and the the stars are getting gassed because Gallant doesn’t trust anyone else. Drury needs to do something soon.

Would have been nice if they got some NHL caliber extras instead of getting Greg McKegg and being like "nah don't worry about it he won't play." I tell them that every summer.

No he doesn't, he needs to do nothing and let the kids fill those voids as they grow. Trading assets now is nuts, we are so far from a cup team its almost impossible. Save your assets, check out free agency, let the kids get a round of playoff experience to grow from and then maybe next year push your chips in. The worst deals are made at this time of year ,especially if those deals aren't giving you a fair shot at a cup. We have guys that should be playing now that aren't, Barron, Greco, maybe Pajuniemi. Two of those three instead of Brodzinski, McKegg right now.

You can whine about Greg the Egg all you want, but he was in Hartford the first part of the season. The team is currently missing 4 top 9 forwards + 2 top 6 defenseman, no wonder they look like shit. They need to make some additions

Yeah, and now he's not, which a lot of people said was going to happen.
It's not really about McKegg as much as it is an overall lack of depth.
Again, development is an issue. We have no young players who can step in. Barron was good on every team he was on and now he can't crack this team's 5th line.

It's very difficult for young players who have been on hockey teams their entire lives to adapt to whatever this team does.

Do you really think the Rangers would look any better with Pajuniemi & Greco in the lineup? Get real. I agree that Barron would help but it’s not changing the fact that Igor needed to steal this game for them.
They need to make NHL caliber additions to the forward group. The only players who do anything reliable are the core guys
