Obscure hockey facts/stats (Part 2)

Haha, that’s embarrassing to be honest!

Do you know the record for most Slovaks in an NHL lineup?

Bartecko - Handzus - Demitra looks like it would have been an occasional line for the Blues in 1999-00, and there’s obviously the Stastny brothers as well. Question is if we can add a defenseman or goalie to the mix?

Awesome as always @pnep! I was glancing at the early 00s Kings with Palffy, Stumpel and Visnovsky, but I didn’t realize who the fourth Slovak could have been. It’s Martin Strbak I’d presume?

But I’m thinking, this is looking at the rosters with the most Slovaks? Has there never been five Slovaks on the same roster, or did the Blues actually ice four Slovak forwards at the same time?

The Coyotes never crossed my mind but they could very well have iced a lineup with:
Nagy - Handzus - Radivojevic
Suchy

New York Islanders, 2000/2001
Róbert Petrovický, Branislav Mezei, Zdeno Chára and Juraj Kolník
But only Chara had a strong place on the roster

St. Louis Blues, 2000/2001
There were 5 Slovak players: Pavol Demitra, Ladislav Nagy, Michal Handzuš, Peter Smrek and Jaroslav Obšut

But they all didnt played any game together. Nagy and Handzus were traded to Coyotes and Smrek later to Rangers. Only Demitra played in playoffs. Obsut played only 5 games.

Washington Capitals, 2003/2004

Andrej Podkonický, Ivan Čiernik, Roman Tvrdoň, Rastislav Staňa and Peter Bondra

But also, i dont think, they all played one game together

Los Angeles Kings, 2003/2004
Žigmund Pálffy, Jozef Stümpel, Ľubomír Višňovský and Martin Štrbák

FOX broadcasted the NHL between 95-99. Only once did they have a Cup clinching game. NJ over Detroit.

Series clinching SCF goals occurred in 80,96,99-00, 2010 and 2014. I don't believe any of those goal scorers had a playoff beard.

Corey Perry was born on 16.05.1985

This day Oilers won their 6. game in Semifinals vs Chicago Black Hawks and advanced to 1986 Stanley Cup finals.

Mattias Ekholm was born 24.05.1990

This day Oilers won 4:1 vs Boston Bruins in 5. and final game in 1990 Stanley Cup finals. And that was the last time, Oilers won Staley Cup.

"Mattias Ekholm first appeared that summer..."

Stolen from elsewhere but notable nonetheless.

lundqvist’s game 7 stats are insane. he started 6-0 in g7 starts with a 0.81 GAA and .973 sv% w a SO. there was a stretch in the mid 2010s where he was literally unbeatable in those situations, just ask the pens and caps.

he ended his career 6-2 w a 1.11 GAA and .961 sv% in game 7s
