Waited long enough into the new season to see that the team is still stanky. No optimists allowed.

No identity, thanks Blake.
No balls, thanks Todd.
No real formation/system.

Consistent failure. No improvement.

No one standing up for Doughty was pathetic. Kopitar is performing well but he's no captain. He's way too soft and its logical to assume the pacifism might stem from him.

There should be a lot of bright spots with the youth coming in but I see absolutely no reason why we should expect them to flourish in the NHL when management and performance has been toiling away in the dumpster.

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me thrice...

I believed the systematic changes and personnel usage coming into the season...five games in, same old shit. Tough to stick up for ANYTHING in the organization watching this product.

Three straight years of regressing.

I don't even blame Blake necessarily--everyone was pegging the Kings as a much improved team and the moves he has made and the drafting...all on paper, great. Something BIG is missing and that's a heart. And maybe development if we don't start seeing some action on the youth but that would be an even more problematic issue...I'm not ready to go there yet. But the on-ice malaise HAS to be addressed. They simply cannot go another season zombie-ing around.

I don't think the team is that bad, really. If they would show some intensity they are a .500 team, which is about where they should be right now. The big problem is they are about as intense as Ben Stein.

Bag skate these bitches and institute a no-alcohol policy. A lot of them are married, they'll be pissed off in a few short days.

I love Kopi one of my all time favorite Kings but I would take the C and give it to someone else just not feeling his leadership. Thing is who are they going to give it to everyone's weak as f***. Maybe Brown again? Our 2 cups had at least 5 to 6 players that was worthy.

If they fire McLellan I gotta believe Blake (and maybe Luc) will be gone with him. Blake has already used the "fire the coach" card before and Todd is one of the highest paid coaches in the league ($5M a year iirc) with two more years left on the contract after this season. They'll both sink or swim together and right now they're sinking.

The expectation has been set this year as far as making the playoffs. I agree with you guys on the heart. It’s really disgusting to see. Guys like Williams, Mitchell, Stoll, Greene and Quick would never accept this kind of crap during the Stanley Cup years. Include Richards in that mix too.

I think it’s going to be one of those situations if they are trending down after a certain number of games then you will see people clamoring for someone to get fired. It’s still early, though. Look at Vegas and San Jose. Too small of a sample size. But I think I speak for a majority of the fan base when I say that it’s not so much just the Kings losing but how they are losing. You can tell when someone really cares about what they are doing no matter what their profession is.

I'm giving them until the end of the year. If they make the playoffs good on them that means they did their job. But if we're bottom 5 or bottom 10 again they need to go. Because at that point what progress has been made since they came in? Now if Doughty is out for 4 months as opposed to 1 month I may be willing to chalk down the season as lost because you can't replace Doughty. But ultimately you can build the best prospect pool in the league, but it doesn't matter if the team they are joining is still in disarray after all these years.

Not sure it is that easy.
While i support to change the coach it has to be done with purpose.

We need a completely different option. While the league is getting bigger and faster, we stick with the same old hockey from 40 years ago.
Enter the zone as slow as possible, glued to the board and hope you make it to the corner.
No player holds the puck longer than 1 puck tap and throws it, doesn't matter where, as long as he can get rid of the puck.
As soon as we have the puck, we just give it to the opponent for no obvious reason.
Those mortar shots out of the own zone right to the opponents drive me crazy.
Those are all system and coaching issues that needs to be addressed by a young and fresh coach who didn't live 80 years ago.
If we can't find this kind of coach, we don't need to replace the staff with the same coach just for changing sake.

We also need to build a wining mentality.
A player gets a couple of years of chances but has to show at least signs of something he is good at.
No team can afford the Wagner's and Kempe's for multiple years.
Vilardi's start to the the season is just brutal but at least he shows something to build on. His play making and creativity is elite level.
Beside that, positions have to be earned. The organization needs to set a clear goal for a player.
Just look at those guys we bring in every year.
Players who are playing for a organization for 10 years and finally run our of steam should not be targeted by us

Also the team to be build on synergy.
Our 2nd line is build of non hockey players.
Danault has no idea that the hockey rink has 2 sides and Iafallo and Kempe have never done somwthing on their own for years.
While this is synergy in a really bad way, we need someone in every line who can set up and someone who knows how to get past a goalie.
Aren't we all jealous watching the opposition wingers snipe into top corners while we have to watch our Iafallo's and Kempe's hitting the goalie chest in the best case.
The time of the workhorses and locker room guys is long gone, every team rolls now at least 3 fast goal scoring able lines these days.
Teams with workhorses and locker room guys only, are just steam rolled time after time.

All this needs to be addressed before we even think about taking part in playoff

At the end of the day, the product being put on the ice is just not good enough.

Getting more grit isn't necessarily going to get more wins. My main issue is the backend. Doughty is the only threat on the blue line. Blake needs to acquire an offensive defenseman. Bjornfot, Anderson, Roy all fulfill the same style. Solid defense with no offensive output. Walker hasn't been able to convert much since his injury in Minnesota. And im not going to rely on Edler to become our savior, simply because that is not his job.

Mikey has 2 goals in 65 games (even tho he has been showing a little more oomph in his game this season). Bjornfot has 1 shot in 5 games. Roy has 2 goals since the lockdown. In their prime, all these players make a fine defensive #4 on a playoff team. But all these players have also been outscored by goal scoring legend Kurtis MacDermid. It's quite evident that a majority of cycles in the zone are broken by poor decision-making on the blue line. These players are simply not offensively gifted. This isn't an overreaction, we have seen this the past 2 seasons.

Blake had the opportunity to grab an offensive dman like Ghost several times, who had 9 goals last season, or Dunn who had 6 last year. There is no one in the system that can solve this problem anytime soon. One of Roy, Anderson, Bjornfot need to be flipped for an offensive asset. They all fill the same role.

Which also explains why Clague is such a pouty little bitch, having to watch these guys unable to do anything offensively night after night.

It looks bad but we are way early into the season.

Team isn’t completely healthy but they need to right the ship. Don’t want to dig too big of a hole.

I hadn't even though about 'results' in terms of w/ls quite yet but I can't imagine the toll it will take on this team and development if they're out of the playoff race by thanksgiving again.

Before they fire the coach they will make a shakeup trade if things dont change by the 20 game mark. Like they did with Pearson a couple years back. It will be Kempe.

For what reason would you give them that long when this team has no upward swing for the last five years..

Definition of insanity. No signs of notable improvement at all but give them more rope? The f***.

You forgot Luc Robitaille. I'm not sure anything good has happened since they gave him more authority on the hockey operations side.
You mean like acquiring one of or possibly the best prospect pool?

Personally I'd give them rope if I saw any signs of improvement. But this is, yet again, regression--year over year regression in production and outcomes for the team's record as well as the production of 90% of the roster, while players who leave experience progression. I just cannot justify it any which way and the decaying play of guys in their mid-20s is the most damning thing for me.

It's not necessarily a rational decision but I'm not the decision maker, so it's easy for me to say, but f*** it, I'm done with it. I have never given up on this team before 3/4 a season before but I'm already feeling about tomorrow's game the way I felt at the end of the last 3 seasons, I may not even watch.

We're f***ing 5 games into the season. Don't get me wrong I'm furious at this start, but I always preach patience when there's new faces and injuries to key players. And like I said if we're bottom 5 or bottom 10 again I think both of their jobs are jeopardy because of exactly what you just said when there's no sign of improvement. This is the year we need to see improvement and we need to see it over a full 82 games

I don't really agree. They flatlined for four years. There's been no pulse. How are they not on the hot seat already? Their jobs should be in jeopardy completely by the end of November if they're still like this. Not 82 freaking games. You don't need 82 games to know they're gonna be shit if they play like this for another month. It's been like this four years. Where's the blind unjustified optimism coming from?
