Post-Game Talk: NYR @ WSH Game I: An Implosion Of Modest Proportions

That was not a bad effort. Few bounces and we are in OT.

Very close 5 on 5. Stay out of the gd box!
 
Can we get some new refs over here please?

I thought we played better than them 5 on 5 and hell our PK did a great job. Ovechkin didn't really do anything outside of their PP. We spent a majority of the 2nd period on the PK for really no good reason. Pathetic display of reffing. If they don't come out hard in game 2 that's on Torts. The guy who doesn't give a **** about the PP.

We made really stupid passes all night long into the Caps feet, that has to be fixed.

I pray to all the Gods that people believe in that Staal and Boyle can come back for game two.

Shots on goal are not equal. A majority of the Rangers shots were all garbage. Where as a majority of the Caps shots were QUALITY scoring chances. Hank kept the team in the game the entire 1st period, and many other points during the game.

It doesn't help that we couldn't score one real goal. We get a lucky bounce, grab a quick 1-0 lead and continue to play like trash.

Please. Lundqvist let in goals on a breakaway and on a bad angle shot. The Rangers had those chances too. Holtby stopped them. I'm not even calling them soft goals by Lundqvist, because I didn't think they were. Holtby just outplayed him.

We had plenty of quality scoring chances tonight.
 
Marc Staal, Derek Dorsett and Ryane Clowe won't help this team offensively.

Can't win if you cant score.
 
Other than the lack of PowerPlay contribution (pretty much a given), I think they will be okay.

Cannot have mental collapses and expect a win. A better game 2 coming up, but not all was bad tonight.
 
We had chances tonight, the goals will come. It really wasn't one of those efforts where we can't even cross the blueline. I'm frankly more concerned about keeping the Caps under 3 than us reaching 3 after that.

Lundqvist will be better, but the D is sleepwalking for a long time now.
 
Am I the only one who had little to no expectation of results in this playoffs for the Rangers?
 
I hope a lot of that was just the long layoff, and now that they have a game under their belts they come out with a little more urgency on Saturday. They looked better as the game went on, bad call that led to the 2nd goal really hurt, and really just that 1 minute where the caps scored the two quick goals, completely changed the tone of the game. Have to win Saturday, really don't want to go home down 2-0 especially with no home ice advantage.
Tough loss but I won't panic unless they lose on Saturday.

Hopefully new refs on Saturday, really want to see refs who will let the teams play.

If we have to pray for bounces we might as well end the series now.

Maybe they should be making their own luck
 
If we had won 3-1 with the exact same play, you'd all be jumping for joy.

It's laughable how much some of you simply rely on the scoreboard and not the actual play of the game.

Yes, everyone has a right to be upset that we lost, but that game doesn't mean we're toast. If anything, we will win if we keep playing that way.

Henrik let in a softie and another he should have stopped, which is becoming something of a trend for him, and Richards and Nash were average. Overall though we were good. We hit the crossbar, missed on a breakaway and were denied a goal thanks to **** camera perspectives.

I also thought the refs were very one-sided. They missed a ton of ****ing hooks and interferences against Washington, and also got them back into the game.

Whatever, I thought they played fine and if anything they should look at that effort and build off of it.

Oh please, normally that may be true but we got plenty of opportunities and Holtby did a great job holding us down. Hank might have had some great saves, but he also let in an absolute killer. If we have any chance he's gotta be better.
 
honestly i wasnt impressed with girardi or mcdonagh. i know they arent the most of our problems but they were underwhelming in this game. also people have to quit *****ing about nash and kreider those two actually played good games

What?

Nash couldn't do **** with the puck. Yeah, he got off a few shots but Hagelin and Stepan had better quality shots.

And just flat-out LOL on Girardi being considered good.

The puck never entered the frame on the only net cam they showed on NBCSN.
 
Hagelin was the teams best forward hands down, disappointed with Nash, Richards, Stepan. Eminger impressed me with his tenaciousness. Wtf was the d doing on the second goal??? That's NHL 13 type of blown coverage
