Happy with the trade (Canucks fan) and am happy with how Miller's tenure has started in NY. Miller is a beast and was a fan favorite here and I hope he does well and has learned to control some of his emotions towards his teammates. He will help the Rangers but is on the wrong side of 30 along with their other top centers, they need to make a push for the cup ASAP.

For what the Canucks have received (they did not get the best player in the trade). Chytil is younger and was impressive (think Miller at his age had around 50 points in 80 games) last night and has untapped potential I believe, also M Pettersson is what we needed on the second pairing. A change in the dressing room, "breath of fresh air", was much needed.

Hope the best for NY and will be cheering for them because of Miller. So far the trade is looking good for both teams.

Guess Kakko’s not the next great superstar, the Rangers didn’t ruin him, and Seattle didn’t develop him the right way after 30 seconds in the org after fleecing the Rangers?

It's important to know that Chytil has played in over 375 NHL games and has only 20 powerplay points. Improve that number and he's going to put up better seasons when you look at point production. Also, Chytil, on average, has never received anywhere near the 20mins he got last night. If that's expected going forward, he should be putting up more points. Across the last 3 seasons with at least 75 games played, Chytil is 2nd on our team for 5 on 5 points/60 (majority primary points), with an average of 13 mins played. Give him minutes and he's probably going to surprise fans.

Only a few times. How many times did he get to those 50 points without powerplay boosted numbers and with less than 15mins of ice time per game? 0. How many seasons did Chytil get to be the 1c, or full on 2c? 0. I'm not taking away powerplay points. It's part of the game and very important, but Chytl never got the chance to bump his numbers up on the powerplay, and it wasn't because "he wasn't good enough".

Bingo I was implying the injury of chytll he can overcome like Bergeron did. Hes still very young and hopefully lots of hockey left for him. He looked very good last night suberb tying goal and helped Vancouver get a crucial point.

This sure AF ain't the worst either.........Growing up there were YEARS of us having absolutely no shot against the teams from Alberta with few decent players. And lest you forget the times were really bleak even just a few years ago after having Dimbo in charge for so long.

Somewhat recently Sven Bertschi and Markus Granlund were top 6 players for us......and Erik Gudbranson was acquired for a highly touted rookie of ours and multiple picks.......Yes......things have been much, much worse......

I still think our team is pretty good - we have Quinn Hughes.........and once we add Willander potentially the sembelance of a decent top 10 D....

We have some solid pieces to work with - if management can make some moves that turn out well I'm excited to see where we can go.

I admire the optimism, however I don't share it.

I get that some Eastern based fans have no idea whats going on and think it was JT vs EP40 for the Canucks and 1 had to go, but for fans that supposedly follow the Canucks and believe that is just mind boggling to me.

Let me say this out loud so that the people in the back can hear...... " Jt wanted Out, Fresh Start" .....He didnt specifically demand a trade but it was agreed by both player and management a few months ago that Miller needed a fresh start somewhere. AND no it had nothing to do with his rift with EP40. Thyeve been playing together for 6 years....

There are now whispers coming out as to what led to JT's personal leave of absence and subsequently why he wanted a fresh start. I dont want to share them publicly as I dont know what the board rules are when it comes to that. but DM me if you want to chat about it.

I hope that makes sense.....There was no way Miller was staying in Van even if he did not have a rift with Pettersson. Van did not choose Pettersson over Miller. In fact they are still deciding whether they want to keep Pettersson.

BTW, if it was Miller vs EP40 and given the lack of cup contending state the Canucks are in....the easy choice is EP40 even if he is currently struggling to find his game. This will be laughably obvious in 2 years or so.

Also very clearly obvious that Miller has been checked out and floating for the last 2 months with Vancouver. It is what it is but thats what you get with JT Miller....moody, emotional, unpredictable. I'm sure NYR will get the best out of him during the honeymoon period.


Now as for the trade itself specifically from Canucks POV:

- I wish the Canucks waited until summer to see if there are more buyers available for Miller. Having said that, it sounds like Miller only wanted to go to NYR and the Canucks may have known that in which case then there's really no point in waiting till the summer.

- As for the return , it is exactly what was to be expected given JT's off ice reputation (not just in Van), and his contract going until he is 37 yrs old.

-Canucks did not retain and gained cap space which will allow them to be very super agressive in the trade front or free agency in the near future. This is massive.

Chytil is a huge gamble but Canuck fans saw last night how dynamic and talented he can be. He is going to have a chance to flourish with more ice time.
The first round pick was huge, as it allowed them to get a top 4 pairing Dman which is desperately needed with that D core.
Likely that pick is somewhere along the lines of 16th overall this season. If that somehow becomes a top 10 pick next year then thats a huge "F" for Van and NYR

I cant say i know enough about Mancini to even pretend to have an opinion. I obviously like the size and hearing from some NYR friends, he has been the biggest climber in their system.



As for NYR..... i really really dont understand what they are doing. Firts I heard that Zib had to be part of the deal for contract purposes, then i heard they dont want Miller unless the Canucks retain...... neither happened. Now they have longgggg term contracts for aging players coming out of their prime.

They sold Miller when he was about to enter his prime, then paid for him when he is about to leave his prime?

I think Miller would have been perfect for a strong cup contender team needed 1 piece to push them over the top: Carolina, Dallas, Florida etc..

but not NYR. If they do retool this team into a cup contender, how old will Miller be? 34,35 yrs old?

The issue with Chytil is his staying healthy. If the Canucks can get that I think they'll get a more productive player than he was with us. He was pretty much always down the lineup and never got a lot of power play time. His overall game has gotten better and better too. Not great on face-offs but year to year gradually better. Really smart positionally and back checks hard and smartly. Can bring the puck up the ice with speed and good amount of shiftiness. That sometimes is where things go awry with him. He doesn't always see danger when it comes. His injuries tend to be a lot alike. He doesn't see the hit coming.

Really good guy. I wish it would have worked out better for him with us.

I can see why Chytil is a favorite of the Rangers faithful, loving the pace of his game, but I feel like rolling the dice each time someone checks him hard. And now you also see the adrenaline driven JT Miller. Its a win now move for Drury, and I hope he can push you guys far into the playoffs, which he absolutely can. Easy answer, you choose the 25 yr old Luka Doncic, because if he ever completely puts it together, he is a top end player in the entire league. Anthony Davis will soon be exiting his prime.

The Rangers may value Fortescue more than Mancini but it also could have been that they felt stronger on the right side than on the left. That perspective might even have changed after they picked up Will Borgen. Signing Borgen basically put Mancini on the outside looking in not just for the rest of this year but for the forseeable future with Fox, Schneider and Borgen going to be Rangers right side possibly for the next 3/4/5 years and with EJ Emery also on the horizon. It made Mancini more an extra.

Conversely on the left side. Lindgren is in his rental season---could be traded at the deadline....very possibly sign elsewhere either way. Ryan if I rembember wanted $5mil per and that's a lot for a 20 point defensemen who to my mind anyway is an imperfect partner for Fox. Miller on the other hand has done a lot of struggling this year. He should be playing a lot better and he's a restricted free agent this year and probably going to get a better contract than he's earned and then Vaakanainen who's solidified himself as the third pair is another restricted this summer as is Jones who's never been able to nail down a regular spot. It's a reason why the Rangers might have preferred Fortescue and even why they wanted Dorrington.

It’d be more believable if this was anyone other than the poster in every Rangers thread trolling. They have been posting by-the-second updates every time Kakko stepped on the ice and claiming the Rangers got hosed in trading a PPG superstar and are so dumb. They’ve been all over this thread with how great of an asset Chytil, the “lottery pick” 1st will be next year because the Rangers are “clearly” missing the postseason, and Mancini being an obvious top-4D, while calling Miller old and once again claiming the Rangers got hosed and are dumb. The poster has an obvious agenda, and doesn’t say things to “compare early careers of injuries,” they were clearly - based on hundreds of posts - making an equivalence between Bergeron and the Rangers giving up the “young C” Chytil.
