Well I'm 50 and been a fan since I was 5? Maybe at 50 years a fan then i will be qualified to give thoughts?
Ok, so then you haven't been paying attention enough?

I dunno, I love this team but even in the best of times I am cautiously optimistic, this definitely ain't the best of times.........

The Rangers easily win any of their recent ECF's if they had the stones to trade for Miller. The hangup previously? Not budging on trading Schneider, who will never be anything but a bottom pair dman. This trade is a win for them on paper, but too little too late as now their window is closed and the contract will be an albatross in 2 years

This sure AF ain't the worst either.........Growing up there were YEARS of us having absolutely no shot against the teams from Alberta with few decent players. And lest you forget the times were really bleak even just a few years ago after having Dimbo in charge for so long.

Somewhat recently Sven Bertschi and Markus Granlund were top 6 players for us......and Erik Gudbranson was acquired for a highly touted rookie of ours and multiple picks.......Yes......things have been much, much worse......
I still think our team is pretty good - we have Quinn Hughes.........and once we add Willander potentially the sembelance of a decent top 10 D....

We have some solid pieces to work with - if management can make some moves that turn out well I'm excited to see where we can go.

Sadly, that is often not the direction these things take. Players are all millionaires with ego and pride. This is not Gretzky entering the dressing room of some pee wee team. If Miller does Miller things he can fracture a dressing room at a moment. If he enters the room, shuts up, and leads with his play he will be a valuable addition. But Bozo can't shut up. There is risk.
Trochek is his friend from childhood, he'll have backup in that room.

That does not change the potential of a fracture. It just means Miller has immediate support in the locker room. I, personally, think Miller is going to be a monster in New York . Love him as a player and going to miss him on the Canucks. But it became obvious that he comes with a big strong personality and is not afraid to use it. He defines big risk big reward.

Hope JT helps you guys climb back into the playoffs this year, and absolutely kills it. Guy is all fire and that can be tough, but when he's going he's a beast.

He was my favourite player his whole time here in VAN, even in the bad times. I blame this on the management more than anything. They bungled this up and I hope it blows up in their face. Stupid morons needed to just keep quiet instead of fanning the flames. Anyways, go Rangers go, and looks like JT is already making an impact for you guys.

Rangers should've made this deal 3 or so years back, they likely would already have a Stanley Cup

Today, it's too little too late almost certainly - they need to retool in the offseason.

They still have 2-3 excellent years with Miller at his prime. Some small changes and they’ll turn things around

So let me get this straight: JT was mad for the work ethic of a swedish center in Elias Pettersson, and NYR management said: "yes he will love Zibanejad"? This is going to be so funny.
Rangers got clobbered by the Bruins in Miller’s first game. Kreider got moved off pp for Miller and down the lineup at 5 on 5. Will be interesting in that room.

Zib is likely gone by next training camp.

I want the Rangers to win precisely enough so that they miss the playoffs but still give the Penguins their 1st this year.

Getting pick #14 or #15 for Pettersson would be awesome.

Don't the same conditions apply if it's top 13 protected? Penguins would be better off for a 2026 pick. The league is probably salivating for them to get Gavin McKenna anyway

No one is trading for that albatross and he has a NMC

Good on JT for a strong game, loved him for us in Van the majority of the time. But if the Rags start to slump a little and JT starts doing the no look cross ice backhand pass on the PP to the other team you know the end is near.

I think the Rangers are probably going to be better next year than this year. I'm betting this is just an off year for them and guys like Zibanejad bounce back next year.

I don't think their upside is that high but I think they'll be a fairly safe playoff team next year. They're going to have a lot of cap space this off-season, just because the cap is going to be going up a lot.
