Can’t blame the nucks players, Chytl is a massive downgrade from miller

Pettersson is a rental who will either get overpaid by the canucks or sign with a different team in the summer

Wouldn’t be surprised if Hughes left to New Jersey

Will be interesting to see if they resign Boeser or trade him at the deadline, I'm predicting his days are numbered. Brock and JT are good friends. That's a lot of offense that Vancouver is losing.

If Boeser is done, Canucks will be adding another winger at deadline and/or FA. I think they will have around 11M cap space at the deadline and a tonne going into next season. As JR said, this core wasn't getting it done. Lot's of flexibility to make adjustments to the offence now and the defence is looking much much better (need to extend MP).

The only way this trade is justifiable is that the Rangers felt like Chytil is one hit away from being done. Which I personally believe is very much the case. If I had a nickel for every time I've watched Chytil skate full speed into one of his teammates I could retire.

But that's the only way any of this is excusable. Time will tell. I still Rangers hold on Zibanejad to see what he does next year; he'll bounce back. He's played a lot of hockey the last 4 years.

Mancini is going to wind up as the best player in this trade in about 3 years.

miller = yashin

mancini = chara?

I have some degree of faith in EP.......If he can ever manage to get his head on straight he could be a very good player........his defensive awareness is solid and he's shown signs of offense........I'm very interested to see how he makes out now that Miller is gone.........Outside of Hughes our fortunes are most tied to this player I think for the foreseeable future. If he plays like a superstar our chances increase dramatically. I see signs this is possible.........I'm an optimist by heart but we got a chance here with him for sure........
He could yah, glad we're paying 11.6 million for that.........

You haven't been a Canucks fan for long enough then

some canucks fans are suggesting that he’s soft now because playing the game for him is like tring to walk on eggshells

is this true? i haven’t watched him
Look, he's never been Keith Tkachuk. He hs never been good at protecting himself, but he's no Eric Daze either. He his a very skilled guy. He will go in the tough area. But that doesn't always go well for him. But that will separates his from what consider to be a soft player. Fragile ≠ Soft

miller = yashin

mancini = chara?

:scared:
If you can remove the snark, Mancini could become a player in the mold of Ryan McDonagh.

What's kinda funny about this deal and the Pettersson deal was that I jokingly threw out a 3-way trade in one of the last Miller threads.

It's funny that it ended up being fairly close to this. Canucks got Chytil and Pettersson, Penguins got the Rangers 1st and the Rangers got Miller.

Miller is leaving the Canucks scoring over a ppg clip over his entire tenure, while playing match up role, and putting the team on his back in the playoffs.

Most or majority of the Canucks would have been fine with him and his contract if he retired a Canuck and never had issues with EP. He wasn’t traded because Canucks don’t need him. He was traded because the locker room was a problem (and not saying he was the sole cause of that problem, him and EP were equal contributors to that issue).

I didn't hear anyone say the Canucks would need to retain.

Who, exactly, said that?

I call bullshit on this.

“It’s abundantly obvious that they’re trying to make something work with JT Miller. And I think some of the pushback that I got was from the Rangers end, was not so much that it was a clause that was related to the first-round pick being moved, but that it was the Rangers not being willing to take on the entirety of JT Miller’s contract. That ended up being the hangup.”

The Canucks should be glad they got rid of that contract.
Yah we destroyed our offensive depth, and even though management bought all in to this team and we have no prospect pool, it's super awesome that we got rid of that contract, especially with the cap going up extensively over the next few years......................
