Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

Sheesh!! That is undoubtedly a win for NYR.

Of course some leniency because Vancouver's hands were a bit tied. Very unfortunate those 2 guys couldn’t get along, smh.

Mancini is a bigger more physical RDman and probably a 6th-7th one at that...while Brannstrom is a puck rushing D-man and Dorrington a promising College D-man

Just looking at the stats, Chytil doesn't even look like a top six player... Was Mika Z for JT really that bad of a deal if that was indeed on the table?
Bear in mind that the Rangers have had a lot of top-six forwards rotating through the lineup during their recent contention window.
The Rangers always seem to have a lot of top-6 players. Chytil has averaged 14:20 this year and only 3 of his points have come on the powerplay.
I think you have to figure Chytil is a third line centre on a contending team, and a second-liner centre on a team with holes.
Between Joshua, Chytil, Suter, Blueger, the Canucks have 4 x third line centres, so I guess the hope is that one of those guys overperforms.

The two previous years he hit 82 and 99pts.

He might not touch his last season point totals ever again, but there's at least a very decent chance he gets back to ppg+.

I'd say there's a better chance that he paces for 100pts the rest of the year than he continues to pace for 50.
do you think there was a decent chance he'd do that in VAN this year? If not I'd say his potential performance increase with the rangers is irrelevant where it regards the value VAN gets from doing this. It would look better for NYR if he did that but IMO the primary reason for getting rid of him by VAN is already accomplished so they've already "won". NYR could technically "lose" if Miller proves problematic for them too (even if they'll most likely "win" as well).

This.......as a Nucks fan I'm pleasantly surprised here...........we cleared up almost 3.6 mill of cap, and the first and the prospect we got could theoretically be used for a decent asset........and losing Miller at this point is addition by subtraction...........time will tell but the people calling Van out for getting P Diddied in the back I think gonna be looking back on how wrong they got things............

I wish Miller luck he was a warrior for us but I'm excited to see how this turns out. From what I can recall Chytil has been a playoff player as well (correct me if I'm wrong here). If he can stay healthy this trade improves dramatically as well most likely........
Yah now were stuck with an 11.6 million dollar soft 60 point player who doesn't show up when it matters....so much better off.

Canucks got absolutely fleeced in this deal.

Allvin and Rutherford got outmaneuvered by Chris Drury of all people.

Isn't this draft supposed to be really weak after about the 13-15 pick. Makes some sense but it may make less once we know if/what the supplemental comp is

Well I think when one guy makes 8.5 Million and the other 11.0 M per it rubs some guys the wrong...besides the difference in personalities...Miller is a Winner for sure but how many years does he have 2-3-4 good ones maybe more maybe less
