Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] Carson Soucy for 2025 3rd round pick

So has Vancouver given up on this year's playoffs?
DPetey has outplayed Soucy by a large margin since he joined the team. This move was a no brainer for the Canucks to make. Save us a bunch of cap and gets us a pick in the mid 60's.

The package for Lindgren out and Soucy in for a 3rd is some pretty decent wheeling and dealing. Nice to see Drury get a win.
Just brace for Canucks fans who will say he's the worst D man on the team and a liability. Which is not true. He struggled a bit this year but was solid for the last 2.

No. Soucy was legit being scratched often lately lol.

Huh? He was only here for one other season which he only played half of. I agree he was good when he wasn't hurt but he didn't play a complete season here let alone 2...

Dumolin plays tougher minutes and churns out better results, Soucy last year was a very good shut down defenseman, but he's been a disaster this season. If he bounces back, this is a huge get for the Rangers because he can play on your 2nd pairing in a shutdown role and be very good, but if he doesn't it's a really bad deal considering he still has 1 more year at 3.3 million

He’s literally one of only five players who have played at least 59 of the Canucks 61 games this season and played every game since the 4 Nations tournament. Try again.
He was healthy scratched twice in the last month. Wouldn’t say often but probably would have been scratched more if not for injuries.

Soucy was incredible last year, looked like a legit #4 with #3 upside on a great contract.

Dude fell of a cliff completely to become a marginal #6 and closer to a #7. If it wasn't for E. Pettersson 40 there would be massive dialogue over how bad Soucy has dropped off and why he was the reason the defense struggled so much pre M. Pettersson trade.

And the 2 games missed were recent healthy scratches. I'm a Canucks fan.

Exactly. If Hughes was healthy he would have been scratched more. They were scratching him for Forbort even.

He's had some hand injuries that I think reoccurred this year and so I'm not sure if that's something he's playing through or if it's something that made him regress but he was not the same player from last season.

Well...between Will Borgen and Carson Soucy, I'd say the Rangers have done well to replace Jacob Trouba's 'freight train' style of play.

Whether those two will be good against the best Eastern forwards coverage wise, will remain to be seen, but don't get in their way.
They'll hit the ^%$# out of you...

last year everyone had career years. this year we found out Soucy cannot be played above a #5, he will be a good #5, if the plan was to move him to Lindgren's spot, hes going to crash and burn in a big way. Hes exceptional defending rush entry, but thats about it.

Rangers are basically doing what the 17-18 Blue Jackets did (minus the big Miller trade), in a season that was disappointing coming off of franchise best regular season the year before.

Add some low cost players for the specific roles. Columbus added Vanek, Letestu and Ian Cole. Maybe I'm even forgetting someone while sitting in the bubble.

They ended up winning 10 in a row in a push for a playoff spot, then gave the Caps a hard series in the 1st round but ultimately fell short.

Probably a similar story for the Rangers. This season just ain't it even if they make the dance, but at least they can make it interesting.
