Just a side note - Miller's trade value was WAY way higher even 1 or 1.5 years ago. If Rangers weren't planning to keep him long-term, they really missed their chance to sell him when he had high value.
The side note is irrelevant. He was a major part of the team which gmwas 2 wins away from the SCF. He had a down year, the same as every other Ranger this season except Cuylle.Mammoth consider McBain a core piece (outer core though) as far as I know, but they maybe like Miller a lot too. Enough Duff for you Homer.Miller solidly the most valuable player in the trade. Poor season yes, but proven for about the 5 years before that he is capable with top minutes against the leagues best.
McBain is more valuable to Utah than what teams will pay for him in a trade. The just how it is with bottom 6 grit players.
Crouse is really coming off a poor season by his standards, even worse so than Miller.
Brodzinski is a a standard bottom 6 player who does nothing noticable and you sometimes forget he is on the ice.
Utah definitely adds but it would have to be significant as I don't see NYR settling for 2 bottom 6 players and taking on roughly $7m in salary for Miller.
Don’t really think this does anything for either team. Rangers don’t need to add two bottom six guys, and Utah doesn’t gain much from adding Miller.K Miller and Brodzinski

Most valuable piece in the deal is Crouse. You gladly pass an excusee for Miller but refuse to extend Crouse the came consideration, yet for the role he plays and the instability of the organizations he has played for, his 5 years were better. I'll take the chance on his rebounding in a new environment over the change of Miller. What did I say that was Incorrect?
You cannot say that Crouse' performances of the last 5 years has been better than Miller when he has won a presidents trophy and been to 2 Conference finals playing near top line minutes. You can't say what Crouse done over the same period was more impressive because he was on an unstable organisation. Most valuable piece in the deal is Crouse. McBain gets no return in this proposal other than a dime a dozen tweener which every team have an AHL roster full of already.
Smart move is to keep Miller as he should rebound under Sullivan and then move him for a stronger package. Moving him now is moving a distressed asset - same as with Crouse.
I understand that.Utah values McBain more than Crouse and more than Miller.
C depth is super important and hard to build and McBain is key in that regard for Utah.
Not suggesting McBain is actually better than Miller but the way he fills a need is more than enough to make up any difference.
He's Utah's 3rd line C.Isn’t McBain a 4th liner? In what world is he more valuable than a 25yo 6’5 top 4 dman?
It’s the last thing they need.Their LD could use help imo
Rangers too actually but before moving Miller I expect a Gavrikov and maybe Grezlyk ufa signing

Sergachev on a long term contract and was top ten in minutes played in the NHL last season. Simashev was a 6th overall pick 23 months ago. They are HEAVILY invested in both of these. The assets surrendered for both are extremely valuable. They’re all done investing major assets into that position now. You only need three and they aren’t going to pay up for Miller. What am I missing ?
Top LD prospect ?
Sergachev is good
Cole is near the end
Maata can play both sides
