(what i can't believe is that 20+ folks thinks it's worth their time, or ours,
to post the same stale comments about every minor deal)

anyway, i do see something possibly interesting here
- trading a C for a W
when Pack(NYR) held out Pack players for a possibly imminent Miller deal,
they were Chmelar and Sykora - Wingers

Could Drury/Martin be adding a Wing in advance of anticipated trading a W (or 2)

Edmonds can't seem to stay healthy and his production has significantly regressed, and apparently so has his role. Chicken and the egg thing there.

My guess is they knew they weren't going to keep Korczak so they shipped him out for someone else they wanted to evaluate over the final couple months.

The Rangers identified that Korczak and before Grubbe both aren't going to be NHL players so they moved on.

Maybe Hartford is a better fit for Edmonds. AHL "change of scenery" trade.

Rangers have one sure center prospect in Laba and everything after are all projects.

Korczak is a "top-6 or bust" type player. He wasn't getting top-6 minutes in Hartford, he might get them in Syracuse.

Best case scenario, he turns into a 3rd line C in the NHL if everything clicks. In the Rangers org there was no path to the NHL for him no matter how well he'd play.

Maybe Tampa's coaching staff can get more out of him like they did with Walcott, Day and Raddysh (to varying degrees of success).

Lucas Edmonds is JAG. Overager, not really taking the steps he should have. But it gives the Wolf Pack a depth winger while offloading a center who wasn't bringing what they needed in the role they gave him.

Of the three Raddysh was easily the best player. I don't think the Rangers were ever that interested in Walcott and when Day was with us he was always going back and forth from the ECHL to the AHL. Raddysh started out with the Blackhawks organization and if I remember right was in his second year with their Rockford AHL team when he was moved to us. He was an already established AHL player. In his only full year in Hartford he was arguably the best defenseman on that team.

I mean Day had like one good AHL season after we moved on. Otherwise he sucked. Walcott was traded after playing one game with Hartford, hard to say Tampa "got more" out of him. Raddysh, sure.

Anyway, Korczak had opportunities to play a bigger role over the last couple of years. Maybe not prolonged opportunities but it wasn't like he was a forgotten man. Other guys, young and old, at the wings and at C have played better than him. I mean this year Roobroeck has looked more effective even when he's not scoring and he's a mid-tier prospect straight out of junior hockey.

There was a long period where I really didn't like the way we were handling the young guys in Hartford but the last couple years, I've had no complaints. Maybe he does better in the Tampa organization, but I don't think he was mishandled or anything here which is what you seem to be implying.

EDIT: My one complaint would be that they don't play Garand enough this season.
