I believe you can...as long as you don't impede the play when holding two sticks...

(At least that was the case when I reffed)

I don’t think you can pass a stick along the ice. You can give one to the goalie though.

Rule 10.3:

A player will be penalized if he throws, tosses, slides or shoots a stick to a teammate on the ice, or if he picks up and plays with an opponent’s stick. A minor penalty shall be imposed for an infraction of this rule.

The only legal way to get a replacement stick is to pick one up off the ice, get one from the bench, or have it handed to you by a teammate on the ice.
