I'm not going to complain because I didn't want to give Cally the contract, but I didn't want to acquire St. Louis that much either. Trading our 1st and 2nd is probably a poor decision for a guy Marty's age. I just don't think he puts us over the top, so I'm not sure why we want to give up a pick that's around 18 overall for a nearly 40 year old. Still, I like it better than signing Callahan to 6x6 and I'm not going to complain. Beggars can't be choosers. Getting ticked about the price for MSL turns it into a no win situation.

Excellent. We just traded a UFA to be who wants an insane contract and two picks, which may or may not pan out to be anything decent, for the reigning Art Ross winner as well as being one of the best scorers in the league. For a team that constantly has people complaining about needing more offense, this deal does just that. Yeah, it sucks to lose the picks, but they can be recovered through either trading our other UFAs or going with high risk high rewards picks like we did last year in the third.

EDIT: 2015 pick. Not a fan of that, 2015 is a way better draft than 14'. Need to get a 1st back for that draft somehow either through trading someone UFA to be in 15' or through other ways.

I don't like the 1st being in 2015. If I had to guess, I'd say the team will be worse next year (Richards gone or older, St. Louis older, lots of UFAs and RFAs) plus the draft is considered stronger.
