Line Combos: NYR Lineup Retool for Next Season

I would want to give Chytil a long look at center before moving him to wing. If 2 years from now he and Andersson both look legit, I wonder if it may be best to move Zib to the wing.
 
They shouldn't trade anyone else

You need to have some guys to build around.

Zibabajed, Kreider, Skjei. Maybe Hayes, Spooner.

You can't be like Arizona and Buffalo and just trade everyone...it takes time to build an entire new roster.

Identify the players you want to keep and slot in the prospects around them

I'm not trading anyone else unless it's towards a top 3 pick

I think definitely Hayes personally. He's really grown his 2 way game. Especially if we're looking at multiple rookie centers and Zbad, it'd be good to have a vet matchup center like Hayes.
 
Three assumptions:

1. we have one iota of good luck for the first time in decades and win the lottery, get Dahlin. TB wins cup.
2. Zuccarello wants to sign a team-friendly extension (not unlikely given his last deal)
3. 1 + 2 above make management feel like this doesn't have to be a 3-5 year odyssey

Carey/guy that can be scratched

I don't think Andersson getting his chops wet as 4th line C will be awful for him. Let Chytil be #1 C in HFD. Forget the Kovy stuff. Give Smith a chance to rebound, we don't need the cap space now. Dahlin is a franchise D who can make a difference next year, it would speed things up a bit.

If no Dahlin, I would trade Zucc and suck it up another year.

That`s a very interesting team compare to what we had in the first half of this current season if both Chytil & Lias are ready, and we need to cross fingers that they are ready to play in NHL.
I would enjoy to swap Zucc with Chytil - I would like to try Namestnikov - Lias - Zucc before end of this season. :)

Because we don't need to gut the roster

Zib is 25 years old making 5M as a good #2 center..why can't he be part of our team when we contend again?

I'm not on board with trading Zib until we have a better in house option. He's the type of player we should be keeping around for now so I'm with you on that, unless the return for said player is just something you can't refuse.

However, someone like Zuccarello should be moved. I'm not married to keeping Spooner or Namestnikov either, though I wouldn't pout if both were signed for a relatively short term.

Thank you sir I'm quite drunk and not able to research. Traveling for work is great when all the breweries are within walking distance from hotel.

I mean would it make sense to spread them all out so they are not RFAs at the same time?

JVR (who I still maintain wants to be a Ranger as badly as Shattenkirk did)/Kovalchuk - Zibanejad - Zucc
Kreider - Namestnikov - Buchnevich
Vesey - Spooner - Chytil/Lettieri
Nieves-Andersson/Howden-Fast

Don't like the idea of playing Andersson or Howden on the fourth line. Let at least one of the continue development in Hartford. Also Hajek could use a year down there

I could even see them signing Filppula and starting Chytil on the wing.

The 4 lines would ideally be rolled fairly evenly with this setup. Agreed on Hajek though, but like I said wishful thinking.
