The value isn't bad I guess, but I don't see a need for Carpenter. Yes, we need centers, and ones who can win faceoffs in particular, but Carpenter isn't going to play above the 4th line. We already have Rooney for that spot. I'd rather trade Georgiev for a pick and use bigger bait to get a better center.

Just a meh deal for both teams. Wouldn't it be smarter for NYR just to get a pick for Georgiev and then use the pick or a package with that pick to get a piece that's more useful ? I can't see Carpenter even contributing to that team. And Lankinen is fine.

From Chicago's perspective, Lankinen has been fine for them. Adding Carpenter to get Georgiev is fine and an upgrade but doesn't get much done IMO, especially when Chicago has been doodoo this year.

If the hawks are sellers and fleury wants to be moved and have they have no interest in extending lankinen then I’m down for the trade.

Rangers need top 6 that can win faceoffs. Another 4th line pk doesn't help unless Rooney or Barron gets hurt longterm. Rangers already have McKegg as well.
I’m not trying to sell him to you. Just saying he played for gallant. You’ll need depth players regardless going for the playoffs. If a trade did happen for him he wouldn’t be more then a mid round pick.

I’d take Carpenter for a lower pick.

Lankinen will probably command a higher AAV as an impending UFA than what Georgiev is getting right now, so I don’t know how that helps the Rangers when they’d be looking to save cap on a backup goalie.

Rather get William Carrier out of Vegas.

Lankinen is better than Georgiev, why is Chicago adding?

I don't know about better, but he's definitely cheaper. Even as a UFA, Chicago can probably re-sign him for cheap.

Georgiev has a 2.65 mil QO that I would think many teams would be reluctant to give him. He has been great since Shesty went down, but struggled before that, going back to last year. He has a better track record than Lankinen, while being a year younger. If a team thinks they can sign Georgiev for less than his QO, then maybe there's interest in acquiring his rights. However, teams know the Rangers can't afford to give him that QO next year. If they don't trade him, then they'll have to let him walk. He isn't going to re-sign with the Rangers to be the backup. He wants a legitimate shot at being a starter, and he won't get that with the Rangers.

I could see a team like Arizona being interested in Georgiev. They are way under the cap floor next year, so they probably won't quibble about paying him. And other than maybe Vejmelka, they have no goalies who look like they have a chance to be an NHL starter. They could acquire Georgiev for relatively cheap and see if he can be the guy.

After hot start last year teams got book on him and its been downhill since

He finished poorly in 2nd half of last year as Hawks #1 fading as team did out of playoff race and well he has been terrible this year
He's UFA in the off-season, which has me curious. Is there still an NHL goalie in there? Or was it just a hot stretch? Haven't watched too many Hawks games this season.

Lankinen UFA
Carpenter uFA

hawks get a goalie for next year . Both of theirs are ufa

rangers get a faceoff guy Gallant knows and a descent back up replacement

Honestly I see more upside in Lankinen but I am not a Hawks fan and have only watched a handful of games so I will leave for Hawks fans to decide value , but base on my limited viewings NYR should add .
