We’ve beaten this to death in another thread, but I will ask a very simple question… including his hot streak in December, how is Georgiev better than current Koskinen? Now if you want to talk Smith+ for Geo, I’d be more open to that.

The theory that Georgiev needs to play more to post better numbers is a ridiculous take. Snake Oil salesman type dumb. Sell that point to someone else.

Might he end up better than Koskinen? Sure. Today, he’s about equal to Koskinen… and that’s being generous. I don’t see him as a future top 15 goalie in the league though… that’s what the Oilers need.

It’s not a theory.
Going back 2 years now, he’s posted his best numbers when he played on a more everyday rotation when Lundqvist was injured, and when shesty was injured twice...
I wish he was a better true back up. But he’s too feast or famine when coming in a long time between starts.

You want Koskinen for scraps? Hottest goalie in the league the past 3 weeks. Start with one of Lafreniere or Kakko.

Just as a heads-up to other fans, ignore this post.

He's a guy that gets kicked off the Oiler board every few months for trying to rile people up. He's doing the same again.

do not want Kosk at all, if he came here it would be b'c you wanted to dump him, and had to pay us to take him for cap balance on top of paying fair value for Geo. Certainly not giving an asset, let alone a quality asset for him.

I’d consider Smith + 3rd for Georgiev + later pick.

This way if Georgiev craps the bed here too we can walk away in the off season (RFA don’t qualify him) and yes we lose a mid pick but least get 2 million off the books for next season.
1. Geo is more than a 3rd just for him, no retention, no bad contract the other way [Geo for 3rd + or Geo + for 2nd +].
2. Our cap is hell next yr. Moving Geo + Strome + Hajek + Nemeth , each/any one without replacing a substitute contract, is nec w/recovery of Hank buyout to get to 11+m nec for Zib + Fox deals kicking in.
So we can absorb Smith, not play him, and cost of buyout, but will have to pay another club to take him b'c we are nickel and diming every penny of cap next yr, and will have to pay someone to take him on their books, off ours.

So up the offer to cover that or no

Got a shut out last night. His record is 19-8 and is a UFA in 28 games. Just something for you to chew on when considering Georgeiv's pending RFA status and the cap situation the Rangers are in next year.

Our pipeline has adequate G replacements
Congrats if after a yr +? Kosk is FINALLY working out for you.
Shesty is our guy, gonna play 90% of p'o games. We don't need a backup can handle internally if Geo dealt.

Geo has to go I have been saying for over a yr due to cap crunch. WC preferable, but just want solid return -- not overpay, but not shortchange discount either

Georgiev has a losing record on a team that is 18 games over five hundred. He's literally one of the worst goalies in the entire NHL. He's also 26, not 20. He does not have the upside of a starting goalie. The Ranger fans that were asking for a 7th round pick in return for him last month were honest of his worth.

In his career, he has only been good against the Islanders and that has even dropped off. If hes going anywhere outside the Metro he shouldn't have any value.

eye test says otherwise to the bold.
assuming your stats accurate, they are everything, and those postulating higher value are honest about it must be as a starter.

Crunch some #s on him as a starter and then let's all talk.

Eye test shows he's not good. I find it very hard to believe you are a Ranger fan watch him and think he should be a starter in the NHL right now. Or you are just saying he is since he is in a trade offer here. If he was the Rangers starter this entire year they are fighting for a playoff spot right now.

Well its starting to look like the only way the Rangers are going to be able to move Georgiev is if they want to dump him.

Nobody is getting paid anything of significance for taking 20 games of a contract back either.

Georgiev plays for a bad team buoyed by the best goaltender in the league. Comparing a guy to Shesterkin is not really a fair comparison.

The way Gallant treats McKegg, we aren't trading him unless we get Drai or McDavid in return.

again, far to demand we note dif betw apples and oranges

we can cherry pick his bad performances as a backup, or his good ones as a starter. His overall will have the negative pull down the good a bit. But the point here is it is possible on another team --- not the Rangers w/Shesty --- that he is put in a situation to play as a starter.

Not a hard concept.
