Proposal: NYR-DET

Not even Shestyorkin has that trade value. And Georgiev is the backup.

Not really.

It's been a tandem situation all year long. He has effectively equal starts to Hank this year. I guess if Georgiev and Shestyorkin were to both stay, most would expect Georgiev to be the back up.

Value does seem off though. I don't see how a goalie fetches a good prospect +.

Crazy question. If you are a rebuilding team with a 20 year old goalie prospect in the farm you really think the right plan is to trade a former 1 to get another goalie?

What is so great about Veleno? AHL production shows why he was passed by so many teams at the draft.

He just turned 20 7 days ago. Most of the 2018 draft class is still in juniors (he's already played 4 years of juniors due to exceptional status). He won't start his true 20 year old AHL season until the fall... usually you should score PPG as a 20 year-old.

What 20 year old goalie prospect? Usually that age you don't know what you have unless it's Carter Hart or the upcoming Russian goalie in the 2020 draft.

FYI Georgiev is 23? Soon to be 24 in a few weeks.

He is talking about the Red Wings. Petruzzelli maybe? Only goalie prospect they have who is 20-years old.

Not all about production with Veleno. His defensive play is very good for a 19-20 year old, plus he has good offensive instincts. Don't let his ugly +/- stat in the AHL fool you, as GR has gotten pretty bad goaltending from what I have been told, as well as a number of rookies including Veleno on the team, just learning the pro game. Right now he looks like he could be a poor man's Jonathan Toew's type, in that he is good defensively, but we will see how he progressed offensively at the NHL level.

Wings have no one even close or in the ball park of being a guaranteed NHL goalie. Larsson is the best of the bunch, but he doesn't even look close to ready right now. Struggled badly in the AHL and not exactly doing great in Toledo in the ECHL. Everyone else is a major longshot and the Wings and no other team are pinning any large hopes they become a main piece.

Georgiev has established himself as, at minimum, a 1b goalie, in a two goalie system.
Joe Veleno, currently, is magic beans. Highly touted, loved by HF Boarders because "exceptional status" but hasn't nearly lived up to the hype.
I'm not making a final determination on the trade value, because there are unknowns on both sides, but Wings fans seem to be greatly over valuing Veleno.
