McIlrath

For

Kukan

Reasoning: McIlrath is Tort's pick. The Rangers during that draft were 1.5 years into Torts reign in NY. He was drafted as the ideal type of player that fits the Torts system.

The Rangers system now is not a fit for a player like McIlrath, who when slotted next to a lefty that can skate and move the puck, lends himself to a solid pairing.

Kukan is a guy with a lot of European experience, and looked good to me in his NHL games. He's a Ekholm/Hjarlmarson type of player except not as good athletically. A good 3rd pair option who can step in right away.

Torts system has changed completely. With Jones, Murray, Werenski, Johnson, Nutivaara and Kukan he is pushing a system that demands a lot of mobility and fluidity of the D men. Dalton Prout and David Savard are the slower D on the Jackets, and they, like McIlrath, have it easier in a less mobile role.

And I can't answer you why Kukan is not currently in the Jackets lineup. He was excellent last year NHL and AHL, is a terrific skater and passer, and is more mature than Nutivaara.

I would do Girardi for Kukan. Girardi is also a Torts player, but is on a great contract and he has plenty of experience!

nothing vs Kukan, and the floor is open if Clb is keen on moving him and we have a better fit

but for reason of the bold, and add Skjei as a fit there, I like the guy
we need an enforcer
don't want Kreider doing our fighting and breaking his hand
and most of all, I don't want AV prevailing here, running this guy out of town
keep McI, dump AV

Did the sarcasm in J2F's post really go over everyone's heads?

Pass on McIlrath. Torts' system favors puck moving defensemen that can skate well enough to join the rush. That's why a guy like Nutivaara made the team and it's why Werenski is excelling.

If we need size and strength we have Prout as a #6/7 as well as Jack Johnson who at least has some skill to his game.

Meh. Doesn't make much sense for us. As others have mentioned, Tortorella is trying to go back to his "safe is death" ways from the Lightning, and so far it seems to be making some progress. So, no thanks.

No, we know, but you put it in writing and didn't have the sarcasm emoji, so on HFBoards, that's a done deal.

I'll drive G to Columbus, I need a good road trip. :yo:

It's a post by Johansen2Foligno. The sarcasm emoji is implicit in every single post. :)

The only poster who it is just known that sarcasm is within every post is Sarcastic. I mean his screen name says it.

As for the deal, you'll have yourself a nice Dan Girardi shortly. Just getting the car warmed up. Pleasure doing business.

Cool. FYI, as far as the league is concerned he'll still be a Ranger and count against your cap, but that's just a silly bureaucracy thing. We'll all know who he's REALLY a part of. He might still get counted as yours for things like lack of cap space, expansion draft eligibility, stuff like that, but all that is just some accounting y'all will have to mess with when it comes up; no big deal. Y'all can handle that, right? Right? Good. :D

Hope this helps! ;)

You probably already know this, but Columbus is located in the yellow area on this map.

None of it helps. Deal has been agreed upon. Enjoy Girardi. Kthxbai.
