Curious to gauge value here.

I think I can see a hockey trade to be made here. Chytil hasn't been able to find minutes in the top 6 this season and Gallant deploys a different style 3rd line than Chytil's style of play. At 22, he is already in his 5th season as a pro. He doesn't really fit the mold of what Gallant and Drury are building and I think he would benefit from a change of scenery to a team that isn't as "win now" as NYR where he can get some extra at bats at both C and wing in the top 6 and develop his offensive game a bit more.

Comtois is an interesting situation as well. Seems to have fallen out of favor a bit in ANA and could be a good bottom 6 piece with potential for the NYR to gamble on while still having his style fit their timeline now.

Comtois for Chytil in a hockey trade. 1 for 1. Maybe small adds on each side. Does it make sense for either team?

Part 2:

Could the deal be expanded to include Rakell? The Rangers reportedly have interest. Would adding a 1st and a mid tier prospect like Skinner, Reunanen, Pajunmiemi etc. work?

Thoughts?

Chytil always seems like a much better winger than a C. However Comtois is another LW which we literally have more of these than we do any other position.

As for Rakell, I dont think he would be a good fit for what we need going into a play off run. We need a more direct goalscorer from RW or C. If we are parting with our 1st, Chytil and another asset we should be aiming higher maybe a Hertl.

Also Anaheim still have plenty to play for and this offer takes out 2 players from their top 6. I dont think Ducks do this.

Losing Chytil screws our C depth even more, need a guy like Sam Carrick coming back

Ducks may lose some D to UFA/trades
as noted above, NYR would need a C for Chytil
how about make it 2-for-2 - add Steel from Ducks, and 1 of Reunanen , Skinner, Hajek (or Nemeth, not young, but with some term)

or as per @Lays Carrick, but he's older(30,) pending UFA and first time surpassing 16 games at NHL level ...

We'd be way too young down the middle. If Getzlaf retires our top 3 centers next year might well be Zegras-Mctavish-Lundestrom. If we add a center it needs to be a proven 2nd line guy like Stastny in free agency.

For Comtois I'd want Kravstov coming back.

Rakell will go for a typical rental price. Either a 1st or a 2nd and an okay prospect.

I feel like a Steel Chytil makes more sense and leave out the other assets.

Chytil is bigger, faster, 18 months younger, w slightly greater pts/gp (and greater cumulative stats) while Steel is better at FO's
i believe Chytil has more value tho

not really keen to move Chytil,
Comtois seems more equal and compelling upside wise, and given need to maybe replace Chytil at C,
2-for-2's, or similar packages make sense to me

Steel has produced more this year when he has played a good number of games at 4c on a lesser team. Chytil has played like 60 more games despite being younger and has not established himself further up the lineup. Our center depth is actually pretty decent which is why he plays games at 4c sometimes.

...Chytil ... has not established himself further up the lineup ...

Chytil not higher in lineup because he's behind a 5thOA and 6thOA ...

anyway, there could be some decent swaps of young-ish guys, between these 2 teams,

I would do Chytil for Steel. Seems like a change of scenery type trade and Chytil doesn’t seem to be a fit in the bottom-6 here in NY. I think Steel could be a good middle-6 center for the Rangers going forward.

Kinda of moot unless Ana become sellers but I’d do something like Steel/Lindholm for Chytil+.
I'm sure you would... if that was a real trade Chytil would be the 2nd or 3rd piece.

Thinking long term, physically more gifted, cheaper, cost controlled Chytil should be playing over Strome. And if you take at face value keeping Strome:
a) prob b'c all of Strome + Geo + Hajek + Nemeth need to go + recover 1.5 Hank buyout cap hit to only = new Fox + Zib $$. These guys need to go WITHOUT substitution adding cap $ to the roster.
b) IF you violate that, you are setting in motion forced trades of Kakko + LaF at terms we do not control, b'x if for no other reason, almost nobody else on the roster is available for deal w/o protection.

So this is another case of NYR mgmt screwing it up.
Chytil is needed to replace Strome as a pivot. At some pt in the future another C may be added and then we can be open minded about who is a pivot and who gets shifted to W. But until then, Chytil should not be dealt.

I could see Reunanen/Jones to ANA for something mutual fit.

bold yes. underline, don't know enuf about SC

I am holding out hope that Drury has not yet undersold Krav, he may yet still get here and up his value or at least get a 1st at the draft,

Ok, how about Chytil for Steel & a later round pick (4th? maybe 3rd?)
