Holy hell, someone actually came up with a reasonable trade offer. Nice work, OP.

Seems like we have found someone who can put up good proposals. This looks like a balanced one as a neutral, although I don't think NYR would trade Miller.

Not a fan of moving JT Miller. But I understand the rationale

Agreed. I don't want to move JT. We have been missing a player like him ever since we traded Dubinsky. However, I would actually think about this one. I think silverfish has been pimping this trade for a long time on our board. I was really against it at first but with all of our forward depth, it really does fill a need.

Absolutely not on Buch though. Most talented prospect we have had since Cherepanov. Only guy in our system that has 30g potential.

we need a good RHD desperately. like, des-per-ate-ly.

our best RHD is a career #4 with almost no prospects of note at the position.

This X1000 - all of our notable prospect Ds are LH.

I don't WANT to give up Miller but given how Montour fits our need to a T, I can't see passing the deal. Personally, a 1st would put it over the top for me even though it is bound to me a very late 1st.

To NYR -

D Brandon Montour, OTT '17 2nd, F Nate Thompson (LTIR)

To ANA -

F JT Miller

It would seem Montour represents the biggest need in the Rangers system, a very talented RHD puck mover who could be ready to step in immediately. His stock has shot through the roof since being drafted due to his ability to put up great numbers at each level thus far. Thompson is merely a salary dump, he's out for most of the year and gives the Ducks some budget flexibility. The Ducks also add a 2nd to help make up for Miller being more proven, although it appears the Rangers should have a couple in house replacements in Vesey and Buch.

Miller provides the Ducks with some much needed affordable scoring. I'd like to see him and Rakell together to form a very dangerous second scoring line. It would be tough to part with such an impressive prospect like Montour, but Miller represents a much bigger current and future need.

Thoughts?

I'd think about this one although I'd HATE to lose Miller, would most likely do it if it was a 1st. Miller is a highly valuable commodity in today's NHL and will most likely only get better. Kid's hockey smarts are through the roof and has some great physical tools. I see his ceiling as a 25+ goal 60+ point player.

Done. I love Miller's game but the Rangers need for legit RHD prospects that are ready to jump to the NHL is massive. With the Rangers adding Vesey, it lessens the blow of losing an emerging wing like Miller.

Rangers are so desperate for RHD that they have been giving Skjei playing time on the right in Hartford.

Thanks guys, I try to come up with something that makes sense for both sides.

Just curious (not trying to be whiney), did this really need to be merged? We have two threads discussing Desharnais to the Devils haha

Buchnevich automatic deal breaker. On HF and in real life. He was reported as one of the Rangers few untouchables earlier this summer.

Rangers aren't moving Buchnevich. He, along with Skjei, were deemed untouchable by management.

Posted this yesterday in another thread -

No to both deals
Buch for reasons noted plus he is ELC exemption exempt

Miller is not untouchable at all times for any reason, BUT ---- and I know several NY posters don't want to hear this, but they will --- Stepan is being moved, moved so we can repurpose his 6.5 cap hit and avoid the NMC we get screwed with after this season. I see Step + for Pesce +, which gets NY it's RHD.

Given that impending reality of Stepan being moved, trading Miller is a luxury we cannot afford.

The natural fit is Zuc
but Ana does not want that.

Asking a 1st would be a quick no - especially as Ducks never trade them unless they have multiple 1sts.
The deal is fair as is. Definitely would consider moving Montour and adding for Miller, but within reason.

Super solid and fair value for both teams. Sometimes you find a gem of a trade on these trade boards. Awesome job OP kudos
