Zegras only has 10 less points than Laf in over 100 less games than him.

And a much higher ceiling offensively. Costs a lot less on the cap too. Rangers need young forwards with top six play driving ceilings. Zegras has that. Lafreniere is a good player too. Seems fair enough.

No thanks to Lafreniere’s 1st line contract for 2nd line production… he may never break the 60 point barrier.

Zegras looks more dynamic and is turning the corner to his old self, but with stronger 2 way play. He’s also a hugely vocal and popular leader.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post, floated this trade last week. To me, it seems like the Dolans are using their tame writer to unload Lafreniere’s contract. He really has struggled since signing it. Get Zegras and while he is injury prone, his contract is shorter

Laf hit almost 60 points last year and is on pace for over 40? Cronin looking at him and thinking he can turn Laf into a 15 point player.

I'd rather get an NHL caliber coach than make any major moves with younger players. Ducks need to add a top 6 forward, not just rearrange deck chairs.

Laf is scoring at like a 40 point pace since he signed that silly contract. To act like he is somehow far and away above Zegras is comical.
