Would do Nyquist for Fleury + small add (not Roy). Canes could really use his goal scoring and are weak on RW.

I thought Nyquist was supposed to be a very good player? Seems like the value in this thread is much lower than I would have expected.

Bizarre thing to see.

He had a rough year last year, like every single Red Wing.

Sure he's actually better on his natural side.

Really disagree with this statement. Nyquist is at his best when he is using his lateral acceleration to cut into the slot and get the puck on net. Watch any highlight video of Nyquist and this is the majority of what you will see. He can play left wing, but he is much more dangerous on the right.

Gotcha, definitely one of the biggest dips of value I've seen on HF in the last year though. The time last year I feel like his value on HF was suggestive that he was untouchable.

I am of the opinion that the Wings can only trade one of Tatar or Nyquist and I would rather see Gustav go if one must be moved for a defensive upgrade. I'd hate to sell low on him, but that would be what Holland would be doing. I think its more likely that he is either packaged for a dmen like Fowler, Trouba, ect. than it is for him to be the centerpiece of any deal right now.

I think the thinking is likely that Holland and Blashill want to see how the Wings preform the first few months of the season and see if Nyquist rebounds his value before making a deal.

Also, there needs to be some growth from AA, Mantha, ect. first which could give Holland more incentive to wait.

I don't think you understand how desperate us fans are for defense.

I understand your reservation.

Nyquist is in his prime, signed to a good deal, and a good two-way player. His salary will fit his game, but his cap hit is less than 5 mllion. I also believe he would be a good insulator for the young forward crop that Carolina has.

Fleury for Detroit would be a gamble. Will he be a top 4? Or will he plateau into a bottom pairing guy? Maybe he's a solid #2. The guy hasn't stepped out of juniors yet...although I like his game.

Thats my reasoning for the add. Detroit takes the most risk IMO.
Kenny should take Fleury and run! Run fast! Nyquist had 17 goals last year. He no longer has 27 goal value. He has 17 goal value + hope.

Somewhat flawed logic considering his 27 goal season wasn't a fluke. He had 28 goals in 57 games the year before (unsustainable s%). I'm thinking he pots 25 in this upcoming season while playing a complete 200 foot game.

There's a reason why Nyquist was UNTOUCHABLE to Wings fans when he scored 27 and now he's in every fantasy trade Wings fans propose as soon as he drops to 17. But lets just tell everyone to ignore his most recent season.

So all other factors (new HC, one of the worst PPs, one of the worst blue lines, aging forward core, no cap space, etc) shouldn't be considering when analyzing stats/motives for moving a player?

He get a new HC on a new team as well but Maybe these excuses are right ...Maybe not. You don't know, I don't know. But I don't feel as fan base that would never had traded him at or during his 27 goal season but now after a 17 goal season Nyquist come up ALL THE TIME, they don't feel it was all coaching and a marginal list of excuses that is causing all his problems.
