Nope… necas just start being the one who he really is. Saying he is a product of MacKinnon is utter BS. By saying that it does not mean that mackinnon is not making player around him better, he really does, but so does Necas.I voted Nylander, as more and more, I think Rantanen was a product of MacKinnon. He's a 1st line player, but only looked like a superstar due to Mac. I'd say that MacKinnon now makes Necas look better than he is.
Nylander produces similarly no matter who he's playing with (on the Leafs). Although, yeah, his production would also go up with MacKinnon.

He is a superstar in his own right.
Playing with MacKinnon will obviously make any player look better, but Rantanen was in no way a "product of MacKinnon."
Rantanen used to be fantastic and would drive a line or produce in many scenarios. It all changed in the last few seasons.According to some posts I've read from Avalanche fans, he was a lot better away from MacKinnon years ago but was more dependent on him in recent years. Not sure how true the sentiment is; it could be sour grapes to an extent.
I've also read more, "he' a guy you hardly notice and then you see that he had three points" type comments about Rantanen than most (all?) superstar level producers.

Guy became more and more satisfied waiting for Mack/Makar to make the plays. Couldn't drive a line anymore, they tried but it never worked. Started standing around in the O zone waiting for a pass etc.
Thats possibly what started the regression. Will be interesting to see if Rantanen can go back to being more of his old self in Dallas.Imagine playing with MacKinnon and Makar though. You can sit back and enjoy the show and still collect your points.

Strong point about Nylander producing no matter who he’s playing with.I voted Nylander, as more and more, I think Rantanen was a product of MacKinnon. He's a 1st line player, but only looked like a superstar due to Mac. I'd say that MacKinnon now makes Necas look better than he is.

Not only that but he’s become very strong on the puck as well . It’s much tougher to get from him . Resume says Rants , current play is sir WilliamNylander must be the best one on one player in the league atm, save for McDavid and MacKinnon, he can dipsy doodle around any one at any time.
Can't even get mad at a mulletman hot take.Would've been more intereting with a poll asking who's more unlikeable, as Nylander and Rantanen are the top 2 picks for most unlikeable players right now...
