Why do you need to tell people you ignored this thread? Is there a needy hero award, that I'm not aware of, that you are angling for?

Every message board has one, nice to have the option to not only ignore threads but also ignore posters ;)

He will be fine, he's like a cheetah waiting for his prey. He's always been a hot hot or cold cold guy.

I love that meme. Lol

Disappear? They were the best forwards on both teams last year. What a joke post
They should be our best forwards and by simple numbers may have been but I don’t seem to remember either of them scoring that big goal. So far they haven’t been game breakers. I’m hoping that changes this year

We had game breakers all right but in the wrong direction. A few of them are gone now

Something is up with this guy. I know he's had a pretty good season up to this point, but will the better/new improved Nylander show up for the playoffs?

He better show a pulse real soon...
After Sandin was traded he seems to have been quiet.

They can talk on the phone and skype so I don't get it. It's not as if it is the 19th century and they have to send mail by horseback to one another and wait 6 months for a reply

He's been so good all year so its been refreshing to not have to see the Nylanderthrals out in full force. He will be fine. Always performs well in the post season.

Nylander's pretty consistent throughout every series and you know his production is going to be close to ppg. Marner, Tavares and Matthews are paid 4M more than him and in the case of MM and AM, we've seen them disappear in games or not be consistent throughout the entire series. They haven't exactly been the difference makers like we've seen from the other superstars in the league come playoff time.

No disagreement there. You could say the variance between Matthews and Marner is greater in regular season and playoffs than Nylander and have higher expectations due to AAVs. That said, it’s damn well put up or shut up time for all involved.

That's a bit harsh, no? I mean it's not as if he's phones it in when the playoffs happen, he's been one of the team's main scorers during the most important games...

Michael has a bit of a mercenary reputation and not a team guy but that’s not fair to William who has been a solid member of the Leafs for a long time. Playoff production and consistency is a topic of debate since we need more out of everyone. But he’s a good guy.

Best players?

Montreal series game 6: marner delay of game back breaker leads to gwg
Montreal series game 7: Marner giveaway in game 7 leading to gwg
Tampa game 6: Marner giveaway leading to gwg against
Tampa game 7: Marner defending gwg goal against

Did I say last year's playoffs specifically? I'm talking the career as a whole. For example. In the Columbus series, Kerfoot and Nylander were our best forwards. The Montreal series, Auston was a force in the first 3 or 4 games and then was barely noticeable the rest of the series. He and Marner went pointless in 4 of the 7 games. Marner had also had something like a 16 game streak without a playoff goal and a history of throwing the puck over the glass in the playoffs. Both guys have been pretty inconsistent in playoffs.

Nylander is usually pretty consistent come playoff time and usually noticeable as a play driver and great at getting us in the zone and getting setup. As well he has pretty much been a ppg every series. I'm not so worried about him and more our 3 other forwards making 11M, delivering.

Marner is the guy I worry about most come playoffs. He seems to lack the constituion for ANY physical work, or activity in front of the net.

Vision, talent and siick work are great, but what happens when space disappears?

You have to have heart to wn in the playoffs.

My fantastic art again. Still not against Tavares, he is a good player, just not with Nylander. I hope i am wrong because it seems they are forced together by Keefe.

So this is what you have to argue Nylanders comparable worth? His poor performance now is somehow forgiven because he scored couple more points in 5 or 7 games a few years ago? Forget sheltering, defensive play, hits etc....this is hot take hockey and thou shalt not criticize Willy for his play because he is equal to the best players on the team base on legend.

We shall see in playoffs. I certainly want to see him play at 100%.
His father had incredible skill, limited attention span. How many teams gave up on him? 7 NHL . A frustrating guy.

I think William is a tier or two above where his father ever was.

I get the sense that if this was truly William’s team, that — tempermental as it may look — he’s got one more gear in him.

Thought his dad was good, not great, showed some flash, but the promise of what he could be was always hype — I definitely don’t believe the sins of the father should carried by the son here.

Remind me again, which is the one making $7M and which are the ones making ~$11M?

I personally don't care much for these Nylander vs Marner/Matthews comparisons. They're paid to be entirely different players.

Lmao how? You are worried about Nylander’s performance lately and if he'll show up for playoffs. I pointed out that his last 3 series has been excellent, so I am not worried. I am more worried about the others I mentioned who have had subpar performances by their standards.
Nylander has been the defacto primary secondary scoring piece in the playoffs and he's done a fantastic job of it the last couple playoff series.

We didn't beat Montreal because the primary scorers decided to no show on the scoreboard.

Hope you are correct, but when pressure hits DNA gets engaged.

One would think the Leafs have had conversations with Willy and will monitor whether or not they put him in a situation where he must sacrifice his body to win a game or series.
