He was most likely injured for a while but downplayed it. He pretty much coasted the last few weeks which suggests he was staying within physical limitations and not actually coasting because he decided he doesn't want to try anymore.

Could be a cross road where they're like, do we play him and risk him being a coaster for the entire playoffs, or let him get to 100% to dominate games.

The last reg game he played like he was pissed, didn't care. He never made contact.
Was he injured, sick, if so wtf was he dressed. Or why wasn't he benched during game to protect him.
Something is fishy. Is this about team leaders not on same page.
He is his father's son. Wears his emotions.

Sometimes you pull something and the next day you can't really run on it properly. There could be a bunch of different things that happened between the game and the following day.

I don't understand why it has to be some conspiracy.

Anyone notice how strict Nylander has become? If you do something low IQ he rips you a new one.

You could hear F bombs through the TV when McMann didn't sauce the tap-in after Nylander put on the Jets to get open.

100% he was injured for a while. He's no longer an immature little boy. This dude wants to win.

You can see the frustration and annoyance on his face the past few weeks from not doing what he wants to do. It's killing him to not dominate right now.

God I hate it so much when people show poor comprehension like this. Nowhere in his posts did he say he thinks it's a good time to do so. He's also not the one making roster decisions

This is obviously anecdotal, but I've injured my knee and ankle before(separate occasions) where the discomfort/pain didn't become noticable until several hours after the initial incident occured. The human body can be a strange thing

I think it's fair to speculate if this is tied to a lingering issue. But the only official reporting we've seen so far has said it started Thursday. So we're all in the dark until we get more info released (which likely isn't going to happen until after the playoffs lol)

It's called projection. Someone believes something so much that they think it's only logical explanation because that's what they would have done.

It's called an assumption on your end you're appealing to now bc of a disingenuous reply earlier. By your logic anytime anyone speculates on anything in a way you don't like you could just call it projection. It's very disingenuous. There's nothing implausible about someone not agreeing with him being benched but wondering if he was.

It’s pretty obvious what’s happening here.. Nylander is purposely sitting out to sabotage the team and make sure we lose so that Marner gets traded and he can force Treliving to pay his brother Marner’s cap space. Also Matthews missing goal number 70 was deliberate because he was actually trying to tell the city of Toronto to go **** itself. Dubas and Mirtle are orchestrating all of this from behind the scenes.

Yeah... I'm the one that is disingenuous and unreasonable.

have they said it's an injury? His whole point is if they did bench him they wouldn't necessarily come out and say that.

First, Keefe is under strict instructions not to reveal any details on injuries. All he said is that Nylander felt discomfort and left it at that. Same for McMann.

My whole point is hiding the fact they benched their star player in the first game of the playoffs by saying he's basically injured is pretty wild when he played the entire game 82. Believe what you want I guess though.

omg can you stop the stupid narrative about his father. Michael always said yes to Team Sweden and was never a headache for the national team. All stories are fabricated in a stupid way.

Insiders are hit or miss it was my understanding too that Keefe would be tight lipped about it.

I understand the point you are making. If they did in fact do that it would be pretty wild but there's reason to believe they've done it in the past although in the regular season with a different player and it's hard not to speculate on it when Nylander seems to have been remarkably healthy for years and almost never misses a game
 
Glad I missed game 1 but Nylander being out is weird. If there was ANY potential issues in the regular season wtf was he playing for? Especially after seeing how ineffective he looked..... Should have rested him the past 2 or so games.

Wouldn't it have made a lot more sense to bench him for the last couple of regular season games, to keep him from hitting 100, and have him motivated (and playing) in the playoffs?
