the john deere hat trick talk triggered a memory...

does anyone remember a cane actually scoring a hat trick on free hat night? i have a vague memory of being there, but beer used to be a little cheaper...

I believe Eric did it against the Blues in 05-06 and possibly the Habs one time?

holy crap - it was the same game larose scored his bobby orr flying goal, too!
Yeah, that was badass. Lot of names triggering memories too (though not necessarily all positive lol) Rodney, McBain, Kostopolous. Also Jussi Jokinen was on fire that year. It's too bad they had such a shit start to the year, they played a lot better after the Olympic break but it was too late by then. Unfortunately that seemed to be a theme throughout the decade of darkness.

The year after the Cup I went to the last game of that year (Florida I think?) and Rod had an awesome OT winning goal. I'll see if I can find it. I was so bitter about them missing the playoffs but decided to go anyway and had a lot of fun.

Found it, although I have to admit it was a lot cooler-looking in person than on TV lol. I also had forgotten about them being down 4-1.

Someone whose last name starts with an H I want to say had one back in 02-03 against the Red Wings I remember. (Still digging through my brain for the name)
Jan Hlavac.

Someone has told the story here before about that game being the game some actor from One Tree Hill or one of those dumbass shows that was popular back then, being dragged out by Raleigh PD for being an asshole.

josh jackson from dawson's creek.

i never actually watched that show, but when fringe was on i had that 'why does that name stick out' thing going on. the interwebs did not fail to remind me.

edit to add - wikipedia still has this on his page: Jackson is a fan of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team.[36] He was arrested on November 9, 2002, at a Carolina Hurricanes hockey game in Raleigh, North Carolina, after a quarrel with a security guard. He was charged with assault, affray, and public intoxication and disruption, having a 0.14 blood alcohol content.[37] Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the assault charge, and Jackson agreed to attend an alcohol education program and perform 24 hours of community service in order to have the remaining charge dropped.[38]

I remember NHL debut McBain... I was so sure he was going to be top pairing d-man.

This was the game that did it for me too. Hell I remember thinking Justin Peters (whose name is mentioned in the video) was going to be Cam Wards reliable back-up too.

FWIW I also thought Zach Boychuk was going to be a great top-9 guy, he made his debut around this time and IIRC scored in his first-ever game.

I knew Hlavac scored that hat trick, and I thought it might have been too, but I couldn't confirm when I researched.

Yeah Eric did it early in the season in 05. I remember it even being all over SportsCenter because there were so many damn hats.

The only "hattrick" I've seen was like in 2016 against the Islanders when people thought Victor Rask had a hattrick, but it turned out to not actually be his goal. So we celebrated for nothing lol

Reminds me of one of Aho's breakaways. Speed away from trailing defender. Puck well out in front but not out of reach, last minute five hole.

Joshua Jackson (Dawson's Creek, Mighty Ducks, Fringe, etc)

His mug shot is, lol he was drunk

Funny enough there were a few episodes of Dawson's Creek that we're actually filmed in the arena. I just remember an episode where they went to a concert and the shots in the concourse you see the all too familiar black and grey triangle pattern on the floor.
