I think the one certainty is that no team in any professional sport makes schedule suggestions with the hope of winning more games - it's all done with an eye to maximizing revenue.

I’ve noticed the Saturday schedule was bad last year and seems worse this year. Maybe management wants to reduce the number of “hyped” games because they perform so poorly in those.
I doubt it - IMO the post above is 100% correct.

Ottawa has 13 back to back games. Tampa has 12. Florida has 13. Montreal has 15. Carolina has 14. Toronto has 14. NYR has 14. LA has 13 and travels across the continent. Again, cry me a river. The schedule is the schedule. If that's the excuse for losing, then the team deserves to lose.

Has schedule breakdown.

Quirk or difficult part in schedule: From Nov 2nd to 13th, they play seven games in 14 days, then from Nov 14th to 30th, they play five games in 16 days, and from Dec 2nd to 15th, they play eight games in 14 days. It is an odd stretch of feast, famine, and feast.

Assuming this injury is going to need significant time to repair, Is there any cap advantage to keeping Matthews off the LTIR until later in the season? Just seems they are holding off for some reason. I know he’s important and we need him always, but we need him more in the playoffs. We don’t need to see him get cross checked in the ribs again until the playoffs thank you. (Or ever if someone would do their job and destroy the guy who does it)

Let’s go boys!!

You do not accrue cap space if you place a guy of Matthews salary on LTIR. They are trying to completely maximize the amount of cap they can have to make a deal work. It really only makes sense to put Matthews on LTIR closer to the deadline once you’ve accrued as much cap as you possibly can.
