No, it's using a 2 plus to get a top forward, their biggest need. There may not be a better dman than Greene traded this week. But Isles probably could have paid a bit less for him. I doubt he would have waived his NTC for anyone else.Devils wern't getting more than 2 in 2021 so good for them. From Isles the question isn't so much getting Greene but couldn't you have used a 2 plus to get a better d-man. Curious what Dillon's price ends up being.
The guy is 37 years old and is nothing more than a bottom pairing veteran guy at this point. 2nd round pick isn’t market value for that. That’s way too much to give up.Preach. The pick isn't even in this year's draft lol.
it was too much but Lou likes his vets and knows Andy. Isles will like him because he can play all the way up the lineup. He's great on the PK and will make his D partner much better. Overpayment but a need for the Isles IMO. Hope they have a long run this yr.The guy is 37 years old and is nothing more than a bottom pairing veteran guy at this point. 2nd round pick isn’t market value for that. If this was trade deadline day and its no move or greene trade I get it. Just seems early to make move for someone like Greene. Maybe they trade 2020 2nd as well in seperate trade.Anyone who saw what happened to the Isles after Boychuk’s injury last year should understand why it was important for the team to pick up a quality vet D, especially with Pelech already out. This is valuable insurance and it cost a pick that MIGHT help the team three years from now.
Doesn’t matter how old he is, he’s a rental. It’s not a 2nd round pick, it’s a 2nd round pick in next year’s draft, which is less valuable. The guy is 37 years old and is nothing more than a bottom pairing veteran guy at this point. 2nd round pick isn’t market value for that. Because HF overrates picks/prospects and assumes unless you land a legitimate star, you overpaid.
Funny note: The Pens acquired Ron Hainsey at the deadline in 2017 for a 2nd round pick and a nothing prospect (Danny Kristo). Similar package to this one. Seemed to work out fine for them.
A 2nd round pick is a 2nd round pick. And age does matter when you go to war in the playoffs and you’re nothing more than a depth dmanDoesn’t matter how old he is, he’s a rental. It’s not a 2nd round pick, it’s a 2nd round pick in next year’s draft, which is less valuable.
By the time that pick is playing, if ever the season will be remembered for a success or failure. This 2nd rounder will never make it a failure, losing another D man will. But I do get losing assets sucks, I am mad we dont get enough ever so we have other problems.Anyone who saw what happened to the Isles after Boychuk’s injury last year should understand why it was important for the team to pick up a quality vet D, especially with Pelech already out. Would you rather have a 2nd this year or next year?A 2nd round pick is a 2nd round pick. And age does matter when you go to war in the playoffs and you’re nothing more than a depth dman
Age doesn't matter for a few months if the player is currently healthy, durable, and productive. And I think you underestimate the current ability of Greene. I don't like the trade, but no trade in history has ever been a monster overpay when the main piece is a second round pick.Senile Lou with a monster overpay yikes
