Hello darkness, my old friend

That blatant cross-check at the side of the net that the official had a clear view of would be the aggrivator in my estimation. You could see Matthews wincing after that one.

Ridiculous for that to be a non-call. Even more ridiculous for him to be playing with something that could be reaggrivated so easily.

We won't see him until after the 4-Nations I bet.

Also ridiculous was all 4 other Leafs just standing there

If the book on Matthews is to crosscheck him to knock him out for a few games/weeks, it does not bode well for him this season.

All you had to do was watch Matthews play since he came back and you could tell he wasn’t close to 100%
After missing the last pregame skate not surprised at all he is getting shut down again. With the Christmas break coming up it’s an easy time to give him a week off

Not great to see him out again, but they won't need him against the islanders. Marner and the third line should have big games.

I don't think Minten's been called up so I assume Domi will move into Matthews spot and Holmberg will move into the 3rd line center spot. Don't expect a big game from line three then yuck.

I assume we dress Reaves so he can wink and blow kisses to Martin.
Would like to have kept him. But we had to overpay I guess. Stalking his old contracts, he was on A 4 year deal making a million per. Before coming here. We sign him to a 4 year 2.5 million per year deal. He then leaves and signs another 4 year deal with the islanders for 1.5 per. lol!

Just keep him out until he’s fully healthy. No point in rushing him back, especially since the team was winning regardless, and risking the injury reoccurring like it just did.

Maybe with him out, it’ll push this management team a little harder in being aggressive and going after a top six center like Cozens.

With the way the 3rd line is playing I would probably call Minten up to play between Marner and Knies.

We're at 23 players so someone would have to be waived or Matthews would need to be put on IR in order to call him up.
Ahh gotcha, I guess I would consider Holmberg with Marner and Knies then. Keep the 2nd and 3rd lines complete.

Let Mitch play center
It makes sense with his defensive game but it would be more ideal if he had a winger that could win important faceoffs here and there.
