Pittsburgh won one of their recent cups with a blueline of who knows what. If they can do it (ignore the fact they have Sid and Brendan Witt’s victim), so can the Isles.

Pittsburgh's blueline was

Dumoulin - Hainsey
Maatta - Daley
Cole - Schultz

So a top pair with a stay-at-home 2D and stay-at-home plug that just bunkered down in their own zone, and then a good middle pair and a good bottom pair.

That Isles blueline three AHL-level players each playing with a guy who isn't good enough to lead his own pair.

I'm just speculating based on these moves lately, injuries notwithstanding, but I think one of Dobson/Pelech/Pulock are moved in a hockey trade within a year, if not sooner.

Dobson as a base for a Pettersson trade is something I can see.

Hogberg, Engvall, Holmstrom, and now Boqvist are on the Isles. All Swedes. If they're making a push for Pettersson, 4 Swedes on the roster certainly makes the transition easier. Add in the teammate history with Horvat, and Allvin and Lou as past dance partners, I can see this unfolding.

They had shots. Cholowski was a little up and down, he had a bad, unforced, unneeded turnover one of his last games and you can’t do that as a fringe guy.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think we had the cap then. Would like to know.

I think with Dobson on LTIR we have cap room now.

That was the run that solidified Dumoulin's reputation. When Letang went down, people thought he'd be in over his head, but the wheels never fell off. Hainsey was effective but sucked to watch. He was in the Tortorella mold of dmen who couldn't skate, handled the puck like a grenade, iced the puck at least once per period, and whose primary strategy was to block shots. Pens fans (especially those on HF) turned on Maatta and made him a whipping boy for dumb reasons.
