From a glance at their depth chart, maybe the Islanders could use some offense from the blue line?

Regardless, a PTO is never a bad thing.

Not a bad option for replacing Leddy for cheaps.

Will he be as good? Maybe.
Will he cost much? No.
Will he cost assets? No.
Will he take up a roster spot if signed? Yes.
Will he block any NHL-ready prospect? No.

All boxes checked.
Good job Lou.
Chances are he’s nowhere close to as good. Outside of the PP he’s not at all close to an NHL level D and a huge liability

Also doesn't hurt them if they want to go for Ekholm/Lindholm at the deadline (which I think they really should). Make ME/HL - Dobson the 2nd pair and push Gus - Mayfield down to the 3rd pair with PP minutes for Gus/PK for Mayfield. That would be a scary good top dcore to go up against in the playoffs

This is probably to give Swedish Sebastian Aho some competition for an NHL starting lineup gig. Personally, I think either Gustafsson or Aho will probably win the job next to Mayfield and play there until at least the trade deadline.
