To Islanders---
and they are........Edmonton says no for a couple of reasons.
Isles have no reason to trade Mayfield. Let alone Mayfield for a 3rd liner and a 2nd.Swap Beauvillier for Mayfield, add a 2023 2nd from the Oilers, pack up, and call it a day.
What benefit would swapping Beau for Poolparty do except make the Islanders slower? I’d rather keep Beau.

Values is close enough for Edmonton to consider.
Edmonton says no due to contract ( length and dollar amount )
And that it makes an already weak right side worse
Poolparty isn’t even worth it for the Islanders. Another streaky winger won’t help, let alone one that really isn’t going to improve the team down the line. Rather just keep Beau for an additional year, especially now that he’s starting to play his game again. The Islanders are missing one thing and the Oilers aren’t moving either guy who fits that need. You think JP is slower than Beauvillier? Yikes… tell me you don’t watch the Oilers without saying “I don’t watch the Oilers.”
I respect Bauvillier’s speed but pPuljujarvi is just as fast. Beauvillier is more skilled and probably smarter, but Puljujarvi is way bigger and stronger.
I think JP would actually fit in perfectly on the Island as a 2/3RW tweener.
Your (suspected) tone suggest the value is out of whack, but your words make it sound pretty fair. A third liner pending RFQ plus a second for a 3rd pairing pending UFA? At least a starting point.Isles have no reason to trade Mayfield. Let alone Mayfield for a 3rd liner and a 2nd.
The Islanders don’t really plan to move on from any on the blueline and it’s been apparently based on how Lou has built the team. Mayfield however is actually a middle pairing RHD who’s physical and truly showing his game this season. He’s not a 3rd pairing guy but gets put into that role based on how good Pulock and Dobson are. Jesse for Beau would work in a vacuum but really doesn’t benefit either team or either player honestly.Your (suspected) tone suggest the value is out of whack, but your words make it sound pretty fair. As for having no reason to trade Mayfield, that's absolutely fair - especially being comfortably in a playoff position. But someone suggested a trade that doesn't address the Oilers needs at all. If Mayfield or an equivalent defensive blueliner aren't available, then there's not much here.

Would you trade Mayfield for a middle 6 forward who really doesn’t bring anything except a warm body and a spot that can be ultilized by Holmstrom/Iskhakov/Dufour though? Let alone a pending RFA who’s salary could be better suited for other upgrades. I’d rather keep Mayfield through the year and make the move in the offseason that would possibly move Beau for futures giving way to the spot for the younger player to step in. That’s why I wouldn’t trade for Poolparty, let alone move Mayfield for him.Scott Mayfield is an excellent 3rd pairing defenseman. He is simply a good 2nd pairing defenseman. With the money he's set to make in his next contract he'll probably be overpaid for what he brings, unless he's partnered with an excellent offensive 2nd pairing d-man.
I really don't see how we can fit him in unless it's a Czikas contract, like 7 years, 2.5 per but that would be idiotic, even if it's an easy buyout four or five years in.
Beau's a waste. Great motor but a cement head that has ridiculously long stretches of not impacting the game for weeks at a time happen too frequently. If he could play the way he's capable of 50% of the time he'd be a 20 goal scorer that forechecks well. He just goes missing most of the time, even playing with Nelson and Lee.
I agree. I don't think Beau for PP makes any sense for Edmonton, nor for us...but Mayfield isn't in the discussion as he's worth more than both.Would you trade Mayfield for a middle 6 forward who really doesn’t bring anything except a warm body and a spot that can be ultilized by Holmstrom/Iskhakov/Dufour though? Beau has done his best work in the postseason. He’s best in the warmer months and belongs on the third line when Palms comes back. You don't trade players like Mayfield if you're trying to have a deep playoff run. Beau can be traded for sure tho.
