He won GM of the year despite making terrible moves because the team he inherited responded well to their coach.
The problem with Lou is he built a team with a very short window. Re-signing those 2 isn't going to help them get any younger.

They won’t hurt you next year but they also aren’t a goal scoring threat. Beats some minor league experiment like Greg McKegg being brought in next season.

Feel like this was a move to spite other GMs for not offering up enough to trade them.

Kind of get it if they think this year is an anomaly for the Islanders, but feel like they need an injection of youth to bounce back.

After seeing some of these moves, Lou wasn’t accepting a trade for a conditional 7th in 2025 in return for Clutterbuck who he knows can still be a productive bottom 6 winger.

There were a lot more overpayments than underpayments, highly doubt it was only a cond. 7th for Clutterbuck.

He didn't build anything. The same team he inherited went off. Only thing he changed was the coach and pieces around the edges.

Lou probably wasn’t budging from his 2nd for Cal is my guess unless the contract was signed already and he waited to announce it. A lot of 4th liners moved for minimal returns.

At least this makes it more reasonable why neither was dumped for whatever we could get, still doesn't explain why Greene and Chara weren't offered to the highest bidder

If either are for AAV above the level that can be buried, I won't like it. If AAV is below that level, I don't have a problem.

We could be in decent shape if we

Sign Dobson say 6-7 years around $6-$6.5 per

Could trade Bailey Varlamov and Beauviller

The big fish is Foresberg. Will be a ton of competition for him if he tests the market. Will get a huge contract.

Trade wise, I have no idea what potential top line goal scorers could be available?
