Okposo got a similar deal on July 1st, only $500K more, and he's a much better player than Ladd.

Losing Strait is by far the best news of the day. Poor Winnipeg, they don't know what they've just done.

Funny thing I give you guys 10 games before you want Strait for Ladd exchange 1 for 1.

But Strait will be in the AHL busy with the Moose.

This is the Clarkson contract as in its buyout proof because it's bonus heavy. I don't mean that in a bad way either, NYI is one of the few EC teams I like. But a lot of risk involved in this contract no doubt.

Hopefully he performs well.

I really like the Islanders but I think this is terrible.

Ladd looked like the wheels were already falling off last year (speed wise). And he plays the style of game where that happens and happens quickly.

He's a smart player and a good citizen so he won't be a complete albatross. But I would be worried about term if this was a 4 year deal. 7 years scares the hell out of me.

Quite a downgrade from Okposo, I think.

Not only did they give him 7 years, they have him 5.5m a year AND gave him partial NTC protection on every year of the deal!

Insane. You have got to imagine there was a bidding war.
