Its not controversial to wonder that, but its also dense to ignore that this is the third coach now, third highly respected coach around the league, who has trusted G as an integral part of their D. Not just on the defense, but one of the more trusted defenseman. A different fan-base also seems to like his contribution or are they not entitled to an opinion? Players with better corsi's on that defense like Dotchin and Sustr are widely hated by their fans, so its not like they are happy with the contributions of all defensemen. They only like the play of Hedman, Stralman, Sergachyov and Girardi, a few are also okay with Coburn and Koekkoek.

Matter settled that he's an ECHL player because the shot attempts against column isn't what you'd want it to be?

Can you explain how an ECHL'er has gotten such an important role for three pretty widely respected coaches? And that doesn't mean I want AV coaching this team, that I didn't want Torts fired or that I like Cooper, but these aren't like the lacking stocks of the league who have no credibility. I don't understand why there are still Ranger fans who still hate Girardi so much.

Because all coaches have their biases and aren't infallible? Maybe because most coaches in this league are in their 40-50s and still have an old school mentality from when they played in the league? Maybe because having a guy give up a goal because he can't get out of zone looks better to most fans and GMs than having a player play a puck and turn it over for a goal. Even if the latter results in better results and fewer goals against. Maybe taking everything at face value is a bad argument?

Because they prove them wrong. They blame it on AV and then another coach does it. Girardi isn't a stat guy. But for some reason the old man can still play defense. Now some peoples definition of defense is different than others. You could say more extreme than others.

The key is not to look at it from our perspective but instead as an outside view. It can truly make people go crazy but isn't looking beyond us crazy enough?
